Northwest Spay & Neuter Center is a non-profit organization providing spay/neuter, vaccines and microchipping for cats and dogs. The center is open to anyone who wants to help decrease animal overpopulation in Washington State. The expert staff provides the highest level of personalized care for each animal, including feral/free roaming cats, and performs an average of 60 surgeries a day. Spay and

neuter of the pets of low income families and free-roaming/feral cats results in fewer animals being born and fewer animals entering local animal shelters. The end result is fewer animals losing their lives due to homelessness. From its founding in late 2001 through 2007, Peninsula Spay/Neuter Project facilitated over 10,000 spays and neuters of pet cats and dogs, as well as feral and free-roaming cats. This was done with a volunteer staff. PSNP was the first organization in the Puget Sound region to focus on pit bull overpopulation. Over 300 dogs were sterilized at no cost to their owners in 2006 and 2007. PSNP was the first organization in Pierce County to focus on the overpopulation of feral and free-roaming cats. Over 5,200 cats were sterilized via trap/neuter/return between 2001–2007. On March 3, 2008, PSNP opened the first low cost, high volume, high quality spay/neuter clinic in the Puget Sound region. PSNP officially changed its name to Coalition: HUMAnE to better support its goals, mission and vision. In 2013, Coalition: HUMAnE became Northwest Spay & Neuter Center and moved into a beautiful new clinic on Pacific Avenue, three times larger than the previous rented facility. In April of 2014, NWSNC launched its animal shuttle to make affordable spay and neuter services accessible to animal lovers across western Washington.

Need to make room in the garage for new toys this season? Donate your old vehicle to Auburn Valley Humane Society and help save more animal lives! Running or not, they will pick up your unwanted vehicle (cars, trucks, motorcycles, RVs, boats, trailers, and more) anywhere in the U.S. at no cost to you. CARS picks up the vehicle, secures the title, provides repairs if needed, and sells the car. Proceeds are sent to AVHS.

Help us keep the shelves of our pet pantry stocked!

Pet food can be really expensive and many families struggle to afford food for their pets. To help local families; there are shelves in our front lobby where, as available, we stock dog and cat food that is free for owners to take as needed.

Find a great sale on pet food? Know of a business that needs to rotate out older inventory? Great! Items must be unopened and can be dropped off during regular business hours.

You can also shop online and have items shipped to us directly. Please keep us in mind and help us keep our pet community fed!

We had some gorgeous pups at the clinic this week who are ready to take on the world! Thank you to Hello Pitty Rescue for sponsoring spay, neuter and microchipping services as part of the Responsi-BULL program. From our shelter: Meet Layla! This lady loves her toys and her walks equally. In fact, she likes to carry her toys on her walks. You'll rarely see Layla without a toy in her mouth. She loves to romp around the shelter play yard... with toys of course. Layla's foster says that she's very sweet and people-oriented. She does like to follow them around the house. Layla has had good bathroom habits in her foster home and appears potty trained and hasn't shown any destructive tendencies. She has also been good about going in a crate and responds to some commands such as "sit" and "stay". She's a very social dog. Layla is located in a foster home, so please email [email protected] to learn more about her and set up an adoption meet & greet!

Thru March 10 Adoption fees for adult dogs are 1/2 off at AVHS! Visit adoptable pets 11am-5pm daily. Auburn Valley Humane Society is open 7 days a week 11am-6pm. If you have any questions, give us a call during normal business hours, (253) 249-7849.
