It's amazing how much damage a seemingly innocuous plant can cause! We see foxtails on our walks in Tacoma, University Place, and Fircrest and always make sure to give them a wide berth. Make sure to keep and eye out and check your pets - especially if they have long hair!

Dottie has her game face on (aka waiting patiently for treats for being a good girl)! Our walkers use treats on walks to reward for good behavior! Dottie has come such a long way with her loose leash walking with consistency from her owners and the walkers, and lots of positive reinforcement/treats when she doesn't pull. We are back with a couple more dog book recommendations for you!

Did you know that a lot of behavior issues stem from a dog not being physically AND mentally fulfilled? These two books focus on canine enrichment. Not only do our dogs need physical exercise every day, but they also need mental enrichment to be fulfilled!

Enrichment goes beyond just lick mats and puzzle toys, and these two books provide easy enrichment activities that you can do with your dog. Some of these activities may be especially helpful for those hot summer days where it may be unsafe to take your dog out on a walk.

Introducing some more of our fabulous dynamic duos!

Our walk stars are trained to walk two dogs at a time, IF it's safe to do so. Sometimes, we walk siblings separately if they need more one-on-one time. Other times, we do yard time for one pup while we walk the other. In the case of Asher and Fawn (second pic), they have different owners who both live in Merrill Gardens Senior Living, so we go on adventures together!

Whatever your dogs' needs are, we've got you covered!

Dogs don't always want to be pet, and petting your dog when they don't want to be touched (and are giving signs that they don't like it) may be harmful to your relationship with them. Here are some signs to look for when doing consent checks. Snuffle mats can be a great way to keep your dog engaged! They encourage your dog to eat slower, exercise natural foraging behaviors, and engage their sense of smell. This isn't just fun for your dog, using food enrichment and especially puzzle feeders and foraging toys can help reduce stress and separation anxiety, burn energy, and reduce begging! Eating slower can also help prevent medical issues like gastrointestinal upset and bloat! Due to technical difficulties we weren't able to upload our #CanineEnrichment post for #Firyay! So we hope you appreciate it today! Enrichment Hack: Go in with a plan! Goals help us address our dogs’ individual needs.Enrichment can encourage desirable behaviors and help diminish problematic ones. Tarly here eats his food to fast, a puzzle feeder both helps him mentally engage to get his meal and slows him down so he's at a lower risk for bloat. Other things to think about include possible risks and whether a particular enrichment is right for your dog. In our example a risk could be resource guarding the KONG Wobbler from people or other animals in the house. Other common risks include accidental ingestion and hyperfixation.
