I am looking for discriminating buyers that appreciate my efforts. Kelpies are active working dogs for active working people. Send me a pm if you have questions.

Producing quality, healthy dogs that can work or play along side you for years, dogs that represent an honest attempt to find a balance between good structure and working ability. I maintain this open page in the hopes of educating about the value of a working dog. There is no website, no matter how much facebook tries to promote one. I would be happy to speak with anyone.

Update on rescues - Shorty is on trial in a new home. Huck weathered the hurricane with a pile of crazy Kelpies who took hurricane party to a whole new level. This boy is bomb proof and would really love a new family to love. He's about 9 mo, 67 pounds, heartworm negative, f***l negative, newly vaccinated, doesn't wander, good around cats and loves other dogs, he hasn't bothered my chickens and in spite of not much training he's a very nice dog. I'm thinking he's labrador, hound and maybe something else cross. He's not housetrained but the little dogs picked it up fast so I know he will too. If you know anyone looking for a great dog, share, share, share.

Wandered up the driveway, near Whigham, GA. 3 dogs, all intact boys, Two ~9mo, shiny in good weight and the other 18mo-2yrs, thin, treating eyes and ears and he has bad hips. All heartworm and parasite negative. Very well behaved but no real training, not used to leash or housebroken. Good with cats and other dogs. Looking for owner or a new place to call home. Please share

The age old argument of what’s a good breeder continues to circulate. I see the results of less than thoughtful breeding (of many breeds) at the clinic where I work. Health, temperament and instinct are SO important to what makes a Working Kelpie who they are and yet how many careless, experimental breeders do you know? How many people have you heard expounding ‘I’m not really a breeder’ ……… there should be no BUT after that statement! If you want to breed the fastest to the fastest for agility or flyball with total disregard for other important aspects of the dog, do us all a favor and make sport dogs that don’t go into the purebred registry. It would be better for these breeders to step up to the plate and become a responsible breeder, but they are clearly telling you they don’t want to waste all the time it takes to become responsible.
From the buyers I hear all the time ‘I did my research but ……insert multiple sad stories. Reality check people, those breeders are only half of the problem. If you do your research but ignore red flags or don’t ask enough or the right questions you have NOT ‘done your research’. A Working Kelpie bred for sport is a bad thing; you can’t expect to keep the essence of the breed if all you are looking at is speed or any other small picture selection. That’s not to say Agility is bad for Working Kelpies but every dog does not need to be breed, competing and breeding are two very different things.
Ignoring health issues, known in the line are a recipe for heartache down the road. How about a litter from a bitch with two siblings that have an autoimmune issue? Light bulb moment, let’s breed her to a dog that had a massive vaccine reaction. Can you not see a problem brewing? Let alone, the breeder says ‘I’m not really a breeder’ …….. is that not just an excuse to not take responsibility? Buyers, please stop and use your head before you support those ‘I’m not a breeder people’ who somehow wind up with puppies because, like it or not the buyer is responsible in half for any transaction. If you don’t support them, they won’t keep producing those puppies they don’t claim to breed and dogs will be better off for it.

I have two dogs loose in the house at night but neither of them sleep with me. This morning I was jolted out of sleep by a goofy Kelpie, took awhile to figure out who it was in my groggy state. Thank you Violet for the wake up call, didn't get her crate latched properly ;-)

Happy Birthday to the Q litter from 2005. Wow 12 years old today. Love my little beast and am so happy to still be sharing fun with him. It certainly was the start of a lifelong love affair with this breed. Thanks Meaghan Thacker for giving me this wonderful little guy! He needs real sheep lol...

Bodi the faux Kelpie likes her new toy, with bottles inside. It's clothes that were so soft she wouldn't wear them without playing with them. She says it makes a much better toy.
