Over the last seven weeks 7 weeks of , we have had the opportunity to help showcase some of Tallahassee’s older pets who were looking for their fur-ever homes. We are so excited to highlight the older animals we’ve featured that have been adopted into loving homes! It truly warms our hearts to see these awesome animals be loved and not discriminated against.

Thank you to everyone who likes and interacts with our posts! You are helping these dogs and cats have a better chance at being able to offer someone love and recieve it in return. When looking to get a pet, remember there are so many wonderful animals waiting to be adopted! If you do choose to adopt, make sure not to look over our older furry friends 💛🐾

🐕✨OLDER ADOPTION SUCCESS STORY! ✨🐕

This is Tara and her furry companion Ozzie. Tara and her mom adopted Ozzie in 2015 from their local animal rescue. Tara was volunteering with the rescue, and her mom came in one day to visit. During one of the open adoption days, Tara's mom sat with Ozzie while they finished taking down the set-up for the day. She fell in love with him, and they couldn't leave that day without him. The vet estimated Ozzie was about 6-7 years old.

Flash forward to today, Ozzie loves his walks by the water and snuggling up in the pillows to take naps. He is extremely friendly with everyone he meets, and loves to get belly rubs. He has the biggest smile on his face everyday. His experience at the rescue made him comfortable with other animals, so he gets along with their two cats perfectly.

Ozzie was given a second chance in his older years by being adopted by this loving family. He has given them years of smiles, laughs, and love. Older animals still have plenty of love to give, and Ozzie is a fantastic example. You can still have so many wonderful years with older pets, and you will cherish every one! Consider adopting an older pet today! 🐾💛

I am a laid back companion who is very devoted to my humans. I enjoy lounging on the couch with you while you watch TV or soaking up the sun during my naps. I love strolling around the neighborhood, and will walk with you gently on a leash. I am house and crate trained, but I prefer to not spend a lot of time in the crate. I don’t mind being around other dogs or cats! All I ask for is your love and affection in a fur-ever home! 🐾💛

🐼Meet Bear🐼

Talk about puppy dog eyes! Bear is here to win you over with a temperament as sweet as his face. Bear is about 45lbs. He came to the shelter with another dog after being left behind by their owner and left in the care of someone who didn't have their care as a priority either. Left without proper shelter, food and water, Bear was thrilled to find himself at the shelter and getting regular meals, beds, walks and attention! While he may have had a rough start, Bear has a great personality - he loves people and dogs. Bear is not very active, he likes to play and go on walks but prefers everything in moderation (only acceptation being attention, he’ll take all of that). I am a beautiful boy with bright green eyes that shine against my almost all black fur. Despite popular belief, adopting a black cat is not bad luck! My shelter has adopted out tons of black cats to homes that absolutely adore them. I am already neutered and know how to behave in the house, so adopting me would be a breeze. I am a silver fox! My caretakers at Leon County Humane Society say I am truly an amazing dog. They also call me Nala. I know how to do lots of commands, such as sit, down, come, and more. Although I am a big girl, I am house trained and don't pull you when I'm on a leash. I also love to take rides in the car. I am well over 100 pounds, so I need an owner who has experience caring for big dogs like me. I am a bit of a climber, so be aware that I can climb a 4ft fence if I want to. I want to be the center of your attention, so I will need to be the only dog in the house. I may be a big girl, but my heart is even bigger. I am ready to be in my Fur-ever home!
