As we approach the "dog days” of summer, Leon County encourages pet parents to be aware of heat safety tips to keep their pets safe.

Leon County has installed informative signs at dog parks to help pet owners recognize the signs of heatstroke in pets. Dog owners are encouraged to keep watch for excessive drooling, panting or vomiting and to limit exercise hours.

Be sure to know the contact information and operating hours of nearby emergency animal hospitals in case of emergencies.
