NOVEMBER IS ADOPT A SENIOR PET MONTH 🐾 This month, we will be featuring the senior pets that HSTB has for adoption! This is Lacy, she is our current longest resident and has been waiting for her forever home for 180 days! This 10-year-old girl is so sweet and ready to go home!

Adopting a senior dog or cat means welcoming a friend who’s already wise, loving, and eager to share their golden years with you. Seniors come with established personalities, making it easy to find a pet that fits perfectly into your life. 🐾Meet Twizzler – Available for Adoption Tomorrow🐾 Swipe for a before and after!

Twizzler’s journey to us is a true tale of kindness. A woman experiencing homelessness had been seeing him wandering alone for weeks, but catching this shy guy wasn’t easy. Finally, Twizzler trusted her enough to approach, and she brought him safely to our shelter. 🧡

At around 8 years old, Twizzler's teeth tell a story of hard times, possibly from eating whatever he could find just to survive. He was in desperate need of a shave, bath, and some food and care! Now that he has had that, come meet Twizzler tomorrow and give this sweet pup the chance he’s been waiting for! 🐶

RESCUED & REUNITED 💖 The HSTB Rescue Team got a call about a dog stuck under a car for two days, and they sprang into action! Coco was wedged in a tight spot under the car but luckily had no injuries. Thanks to his collar and tag, he was reunited with his very grateful mom, who had been searching since the day after Hurricane Milton damaged their fence, how Coco got out. Coco's family is thrilled to have him back safe and sound! ❤️

⚠️ WARNING: LAST PICTURE IS GRAPHIC ⚠️ Meet Hank, the 6-year-old English Bulldog. He came in a stray and had one of the worst ingrown corkscrew tails our veterinarian had ever encountered, leading to a tail amputation and surgery to widen his nostrils so he could breathe better. Hank’s journey doesn't stop there—his eyes are cloudy, and he carries scarring around his neck from his past. But even with a drain still in his tail, Hank’s spirit is unstoppable! ❤️🐾

Let’s show Hank some love as he continues to heal. Your support makes a world of difference for animals like him! Hank is not available for adoption yet, as he is still healing, but keep an eye on the website for when he becomes available!

🐾 A big THANK YOU to the Humane Society of Greater Miami for stepping up and transferring 5 larger dogs to their beautiful shelter! Not only are they giving these pups a new chance at finding their forever homes, but they're also helping us create much-needed kennel space as we continue to take in a high number of stray dogs every day. 🙏💙

As part of the transfer, they’ve also sent us some community cats! If you're in need of a working cat, keep an eye on our website for updates! 🐱

PET PANTRY UPDATE 🐾 We want to say a MASSIVE thank you to all of those who donated items for the Pet Pantry to provide for our community who need help keeping their pets! Your support has been moving!
The HSTB Pet Pantry will return to regular hours, Tuesday and Saturday from 8:30a-5p. However, if you still need food please come to the Shelter's Intake Department and we will help you!

LONG DISTANCE LOVE 💕 After being at HSTB for 148 days, Hunter was adopted today by Chelsea, who drove all the way from NEW JERSEY through the night just to bring him home! 🐾 She’s been watching him for weeks after seeing him on our social media and knew it was finally time to make the trip. Now, they’re headed back to New Jersey to start their new adventure together! 🚗💙 Safe travels, Chelsea and Hunter!

UPDATE: THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED! ❤ Meet Rocky and Bandit, two bonded senior dogs who have been through so much together. After Hurricane Milton devastated their owner's trailer, they were all forced to live in a car. When their owner had to be hospitalized, he called the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, desperate for help. Our rescue team quickly stepped in and brought Rocky and Bandit to safety.

Now, these sweet seniors are searching for a loving forever home where they can stay together. They’ve been through the storm—literally—and are ready to enjoy their golden years with a family who will love them unconditionally. 🐾

If you have room in your heart and home for two loyal companions, please come meet Rocky and Bandit at HSTB. Let’s give these boys the happy ending they deserve!

THE GREATEST JOY 🙏 Losing a pet is a heart-wrenching and scary experience that no one should have to go through. We’ve reunited many beloved pets with their owners, and we are so happy for them and want to celebrate their reunions! During this same period, we’ve taken in 149 strays since Hurricane Milton, and we hope to get ALL of them back to their families.

Please remember the best way to reconnect with your pet faster or have a better chance of finding them, make sure they have an up-to-date microchip and tag!

If you’re still missing a pet, we encourage you to register them on the Petco Love site, check the lost and found page on our website, and visit your county’s Lost and Found page!

HAPPY COMMUNITY CAT DAY 🐈🐈‍⬛ Today, we’re celebrating our incredible TNVR (Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return) department, volunteer trappers, and all the resilient community cats out there! Thanks to your dedication, countless cats are living healthier lives while helping control the stray population. Your hard work makes a lasting impact on the community and ensures these feral cats continue to thrive in their outdoor homes.
