Our hearts go out to LA and the surrounding area and the families, animals and animal shelters affected by the wildfires. We have heard from sources that animals in peril are being transferred out to other cities in California, and we are ready to jump in if they need us. HAPPY TAILS ❤ Zechariah and Tracy officially adopted Rigby! Determined not to miss him, they arrived at 10:30 PM and spent the night in their car, eagerly waiting for us to open.
With two Frenchies at home, they were looking for another small dog, but when Tracy saw Rigby and read about his story, she felt an instant connection. Having previously adopted a dog with medical needs, Tracy knew Rigby was meant to be with them.
Now, Rigby is off to his new forever home, where he’ll be loved, spoiled, and cared for. 💖🐾

FIRST PET LOVE ❤ Dale and his friends visited HSTB, looking for Dale’s first-ever dog, now that he is ready for the commitment and responsibility. He instantly fell for Evan’s unique spots and sweet temperament. After spending time outside with him, Dale knew Evan was the one—cuddly, playful, and ready to zoom around! As a Dolly's Dream Dog, Evan came with all the essentials, making him the perfect match for Dale’s new journey as a dog parent. 🐾❤️

ALERT ⚠️ It has come to our attention that scammers are targeting families that are looking for lost pets. They claim to be calling from HSTB and asking for money to reclaim pets we do not have. Our lost and found pets are on our website at: https://humanesocietytampa.org/service/lost-found-pets/. We will never ask for payment over the phone to reclaim a lost pet or for surgery.

BROKEN IN BODY AND SPIRIT 😓 When May came to HSTB, she was in desperate need of help. This 7-year-old terrier mix had jumped out of a moving pickup truck and was rescued by a kind passerby who brought her to our shelter.

Her body told the story of neglect. Severe skin irritation covered her from head to tail, with the worst around her eyes. She was in pain, uncomfortable, and scared. To give her relief and prevent future complications, our team performed surgery to remove the damaged tissue around her eyes. May is also heartworm positive, but with treatment she is now receiving, she will continue to heal and thrive. Through it all, May’s gentle spirit and resilience have shined through.

Today, May has healed from her surgery, and she’s ready to find her forever family—a family that will cherish her and give her the second chance she so desperately deserves.
