“Thank you to all who helped little Lucky. He has been through so much during his short time here on earth already. You see, he was found in the hood of a car at a car dealership and had a horrible injury to his leg. The femur was snapped completely in half at the femur head… needing to be removed from the hip socket (femoral Head Ostectomy)… He should eventually have full function of the leg again. It’s remarkable how their bodies can do that and I was so relieved when I heard that this could be done. I’m thankful to the people who found him, the vet clinic who is able to help him, and all those who have helped donate to get him this much needed surgery. He is such a sweet boy who loves to cuddle and purr. I will make sure he has a happy and healthy life from this day forward.”

“Our family is beyond grateful for Frankie’s Friends. We had a very rough and challenging year due to one of our children running into health issues that caused him to be in and out of the hospital and having multiple surgeries. We were thrown in an absolute horrible situation when, during this time, our dog suffered an accident that caused her to need a very expensive surgery to fix a broken bone in her leg. This was the worst timing possible because we were over our head with medical bills. We would’ve been absolutely lost without the help of Frankie’s friends. Our family will forever be thankful for the loving and kind hearts of the donors at Frankie’s friends.
Here is before and after surgery photos.
Thank you again!”

Dr. Annie and her team have been true heroes in the midst of the chaos and destruction of the wildfires in California. Not only are they housing, rescuing, and saving pets that have been lost or injured, they're also providing free food and supplies for families in need. We are honored to be able to make a donation to Animal Wellness Foundation to support their incredible work. Please consider donating to them directly, or to Frankie's Friends as we continue to support the disaster relief efforts of organizations making a genuine impact in these tumultuous times.

If anyone affected by the Palisades fire needs help with their animals please let me know …[email protected] I have an old veterinary hospital in Marina del Rey we can use to house animals. Please spread the word and let me know if anyone needs help.

"Jack has a very important role in our family; he is a registered support hero! My eldest son’s emotional support animal. My 14 year old son has autism (aspergers) and struggles with depression and anxiety and Jack is his companion... I wish had the funds for this surgery to save him but I am a single mother of two boys and I am struggling to find support or help anywhere. I thank you for all you do to help and support families that may not have the money or support to get their pets help in emergencies. I know you all are a saving grace to those that do so thank you !!”

As the wildfires in California continue to remain out of control, the devastation is unbearable. We made two disaster relief grants yesterday to assist with the organizations that are providing veterinary care to displaced and impacted animals. With your donations, we were able to support Pasadena Humane and Los Angeles County Animal Care Foundation, but the need continues. Please consider donating to either organization directly, or to Frankie’s Friends so we can assist with more organizations like these as they fight to help save pets’ lives.

Our heart goes out to the Los Angeles community during the ongoing wildfires, including the Palisades and Eaton Fires. In addition to the brave firefighters battling these wildfires, we thank the animals shelters, humane societies, and veterinary professionals who have cared for the influx of displaced and injured animals.

The California Veterinary Medical Foundation (CVMF) offer grants that reimburse veterinarians for expenses incurred for medical supplies during a disaster response, including wildfires. All requests must be directly related to the disaster. Please visit cvmf.net for more information and to apply for reimbursement. https://cvmf.net/

Our hearts are breaking for everyone affected by the wildfires in California right now. If you need help caring for your pets and are impacted by this disaster, please let us know. Please tag rescues or organizations that may be affected, we want to help. Be safe, and please take your pets with you if you have to evacuate!

As of January 8, 2025, the Palisades and Eaton wildfires in Los Angeles County continue to burn with zero containment, prompting widespread evacuations and posing significant threats to both residents and animals.

Current Situation:
• Palisades Fire: Located between Santa Monica and Malibu, this fire has rapidly expanded, consuming over 2,900 acres. Fueled by strong Santa Ana winds reaching up to 100 mph, the blaze has led to the evacuation of approximately 30,000 residents, including notable figures.
• Eaton Fire: Originating near Eaton Canyon in Altadena, this fire has swiftly grown to cover 1,000 acres within six hours of ignition. The rapid spread has necessitated the evacuation of nearly 100 nursing home residents and continues to threaten nearby communities.

*** Urgent Advisory for Pet Owners:***

Given the unpredictable nature of these wildfires, it’s imperative for pet owners to have an emergency plan in place:
1. Prepare a Pet Evacuation Kit:
• Essentials: Include food, water, medications, and important documents such as medical records.
• Identification: Ensure pets are microchipped and wearing collars with up-to-date ID tags.
2. Evacuation Planning:
• Routes: Familiarize yourself with multiple evacuation routes from your area.
• Accommodation: Identify pet-friendly shelters or hotels in advance.
3. Stay Informed:
• Alerts: Sign up for local emergency notifications to receive real-time updates.
• Readiness: Be prepared to evacuate immediately if orders are issued.

Our thoughts are with all those affected by these devastating wildfires. We urge everyone to prioritize safety, adhere to evacuation orders, and support one another during this challenging time. Together, we can overcome this crisis and work towards recovery.

“This is Shadow, my best friend and my baby. He has helped me and my son move forward after losing our first baby and he has helped me with my depression and my anxiety. We are so thankful you guys can help us with my baby’s surgery. Unfortunately I don’t have the money to pay for his surgery due to my work conditions but I am doing everything possible for him to be ok. When all this passes we hope we can help other families in need. Thank you so much for your help and support. People like me really appreciate it”

New year, same mission: helping pets in need of lifesaving veterinary care like Astor.

"Astor came in with a wound on her left rear leg, we were in an immediate crunch to try to save her life. She literally had an hour. The amazing work of Frankie’s Friends allows us to save extremely urgent cases like this. We absolutely could not step up to help her if we did not have the support behind us of the grant, it is life-changing.”
