🎃👻 Halloween Pet Safety Tips 👻🎃
Spooky season is here — but let’s keep the scares fun, not dangerous! Here are some important tips to keep your furry friends safe this Halloween:

🐾 Keep candy out of reach
Chocolate, xylitol (in sugar-free treats), and other sweets are toxic to pets. Make sure the treat bowl stays out of paws’ reach!

🚪 Watch the door
With trick-or-treaters coming and going, pets can slip out unnoticed. Keep your pet in a quiet, secure room during peak hours.

🦴 Costumes: Cute but careful
Only dress up your pet if they’re comfortable with it! Avoid costumes that limit movement, breathing, or vision. Always supervise your pet while they’re dressed up.

🎆 Be mindful of decorations
Glowing jack-o’-lanterns, cords, fake cobwebs, and small decorations can be dangerous if chewed on or swallowed.

🔈 Reduce stress

When it’s time to run blood tests, a vet may draw from the ventral coccygeal vein, which runs along the underside of the tail. This isn’t your average blood draw—it requires specialized knowledge of reptile anatomy and a gentle, precise approach to avoid injury.

Here’s how it’s done:

🔹 Restraint: A trained technician gently restrains the bearded dragon, supporting the head and body to keep them calm and still.
🔹 Locating the Vein: We identify the vein, located on the midline underneath the tail—away from the vent.
🔹 Prep: The area is cleaned and sterilized to prevent infection.
🔹 Venipuncture: Using a fine needle, we carefully enter the vein at just the right angle, drawing blood slowly to avoid collapsing the vessel.
