Let's talk about ordering.....

As I told you a month or so ago, we have to put in our order early in the day. the day PRIOR to market for cow milk Our supplier is now over an hour up the road and delivers on Monday evening (for the Tuesday St Pete Meet UP) or Tuesday evening (for the Wednesday Market) or Saturday evening (for the Sunday Market). I am getting more and more people that contact me at the last minute to order cow milk and I am not ordering extras because there are those who just don't show up (yes, there are penalties of no order without prepay in the future) and we end up with too many left over. We sell for several dollars less than the stores do and you are getting a bargain when you come to The Dancing Goat.

And phone calls during market - as you know I stopped answering the calls during market and will only take a text if you are not coming. While my husband was running market yesterday, I stopped counting calls at 12 of them. Most questions could be answered by going to Google or our Website.

Here is a few of the questions I got and my answers:

1) Do you still have milk? Did you order? If not, there is a very slim chance of getting cow milk or goat milk. We are selling out most markets.

2) What is my total today? Did you go to the Website and look at prices?

3) Can you take a card today as I don't want to go to the ATM? No, we do not take cards for any reason. Cash or Zelle only. No Venmo, no Paypal, no Cashapp, no Applepay. etc. We don't want to do fees for cards or other platforms.

4) I can't find the address to the market? Look on Google or the Website. If you go to the website and scroll down the home page, you will see the addresses - except for St. Pete and that one is up for changing.

5) I am running about 20 minutes late, will you wait on me? We are open for 3 hours. That gives plenty time for you to gauge how long it will take you to get there and make appropriate plans. On Sundays I have a 5pm appt and need to leave. I sometimes wait on Wed night but that is ONLY in emergency circumstances.

6) I was your customer a few years ago and I have family in town and thought I would bring the kids to see the farm today? Sorry, we do not have the appropriate insurance for you to tour the farm. You are welcome to schedule an Air BNB for the tour. Yes, it costs money. This is a fund raiser for the farm.

If it is a new person to the farm, that is one thing but we seem to get phone call after phone call from our regulars just not wanting to look up stuff themselves. I love each and every one of you and want your farm experience to be the best but please remember I will not be answering the phone during market hours!!

If your order is not in yet for tomorrow's St Pete Meet UP, you have less than an hour for me to add you on (and that is VERY LATE). Your order for cow milk on Wednesday MUST BE IN by 8:30am tomorrow morning!!

Thank you for reading this and your cooperation. Boundaries have helped in so many ways here at the farm and we cannot go back to it being so chaotic trying to help customers at the sales table and the phone ringing constantly.

We thought we had an adopter for our affectionate mama Daisy, but it fell through. So as soon as she’s finished raising her five kittens and is spayed, she’ll be ready for a new home. She’s beautiful, affectionate and socialized with other cats. Come and meet Daisy by leaving a request in the comments.

Occasionally when the Moon is shining just right, we get Greek Yogurt. We do the same we always do, heating only to 110, but Mr. Moon is up there just blessing us with the good thick yogurt when we start it during certain phases of the moon. This is one of those weeks. 8oz/$6. As always, for the INTENT of pet consumption only. This is the second time in 4 months that a waxing crescent moon has done the trick!!! Woohoo!

It has come to my attention that some of our customers and visitors are not parking in the appropriate location. We offer a 4 car parking lot and DIAGONAL parking just beyond the driveway if the lot is full. Do not pull in on the right side of our driveway in the grass. Not only does that block others who have pulled into the lot spaces, but it kills our grass. Unless you have a child or pet in the car, leaving your car running just burns up our grass. Please leave all pets in the car as we are a biosecure property and do not allow outside animals. Please do not pull in the middle of the lot and block it for others - there is space for 4 cars, please keep that in mind. There are marking sticks beyond the driveway to denote how far you can pull in SO YOU DON'T GET STUCK IN THE DITCH! Please do not leave your car hanging out in the road. Never park across the street on our neighbor's side. We have great neighbors and it is rude to park on their property!!

Thank you so much, Annette for your kind words and birthday wishes. Annette is one one that keeps our followers in good cover pictures (she is an awesome photographer and writer) and helps with social media, as well as being my ride or die goat getting cohort in mischief, Goat Nanny Coordinator and helps Anne with the Cat Nanny Coordination for the Rescue. I could only wish that everyone had a friend like Annette at their side. Yes, today was the BIG SEVENTY and so traumatic at that. Where did the last 50 years go? Yes, I worked, what else do you do on your birthday?

Yesterday was spent working on a hay deck to get our hay up and far from the ground in the event of flooding. We had been using pallets, but they break down under the weight of the 4-700lb round bales and end up wicking up dampness (and water in rains) from the ground and we lose that hay. While it was an outlay for the materials, it should pay for itself over the next year or so from what we have lost in the last 6 months with the torrential rains and storms. Many thanks to Bill Wymer, my son's father in law who came from Ocala last week to lend a hand and helped get it started and framed in. I didn't ask permission so his is an incognito picture! Many thanks to Lino who pushed through his pain and lended a hand yesterday. We are so close to finishing today! Then the tent will go on top as was before - but a new one that hubby brought back from his evacuation to SC during Milton!! This is so exciting to know we have a safe and dry place for the hay rolls! Yes, there will be a ramp for rolling them up. And instead of deck blocks, I found these cool easy to level pedestals that function as deck blocks and can be adjusted when needed in the future. They are rated to hold 479lbs each. High tech red necks!!
