Rare sighting of a cow-dog sleeping on a sofa. I never realized their heads are so much bigger than the rest of their body. Learn something new everyday. 🤪🤣

Baron Von Steuben has a big beautiful personality to go with his big name. He's learning how to process things a little differently than he's accustomed to, and we're making sure the changes aren't scary for him or harshly implemented. He's having fun while he learns to just look at the surrounding environment quietly instead of announcing his presence loudly. We love his sweet, melodious bark, but sometimes he'll be in locations where silence is golden. 😀 In this photo, he's waiting patiently and quietly for me to hand over his busy work item to keep him occupied during car rides.

Here at PETS we love "pupdates"! Grace and Bosco's mom sent me this photo of them waiting patiently on their place for the "ok" to eat their meal, and it brings me great joy. When 2 high-energy dogs show off their ability to practice impulse control, we celebrate this accomplishment! Mealtime is just one of the many activities that they have learned to demonstrate calm, cool and collected behavior to get to that next step. Proud of these pups!! And proud of how hard their mom works to instill simple structure, physical exercise and mental enrichment into the lives of Grace and Bosco. 👏👏🐕🐕

Tigger is new to the PETS training program, and he's proving to be a quick learner! His motto is: work a little, play a lot, take cat naps...sometimes with actual cats. 😺😻🐕❤️👏
For anyone who is skeptical about rescuing a dog...Tigger is a great example of how sweet, fun, grateful and even already a little trained an adopted pet can be. Just do it!! Adopt a pet. Change his or her life AND yours for the better.
He was not great with the cats for the first 3 days. But we took it slow, made it a very positive experience for all involved, and he picked up on what I was helping him learn. Now he can hang out with them off leash. Yaaaay Tigger!!

Shelby had her first visit to an airport today. She's on track for becoming a super steady service dog for her person. Her current motto is:

Dogs with jobs! Doodles in action - Kobe Jordan and Rex Ross helped Max the golden pup gain confidence in socialization this morning. It's always good to have helpers!! All 3 of them are now snoozing away, recharging their batteries.

Trinity is...how shall I say this? EXUBERANT
She is known to pummel her people with her paws and even use her teeth when she's feeling extra frustrated, frenzied and excited. Telling her NO and getting upset can fuel her fire, sending her into a dangerous spin of over the top energy. (A common response when telling a dog NO.)
We had our first meeting at her home. After the evaluation was complete, we started training by introducing simple structure, impulse control exercises and came up with some jobs for her that provide her brain an appropriate outlet without the use of force, fear or pain. The word NO has been eliminated from the lines of communication between her and her humans. She is now confidently learning what is expected of her, which replaces and eliminates her need to cause chaos. It has already lowered the stress level for her AND her people. 👏🐕💜

I'm lucky enough to work with Piper and Corduroy, who are both adopted and loved by an amazing family. Piper is working on looking at other dogs and then looking away. This is a struggle for many dogs who quickly fixate on other pups and think they should bark at them instead of quietly move on. Beau consistently tries very hard to figure out what new fun trick I'm teaching him. He always has a blast in the process. And so do I!
