ORLEAN A2388577 is still at the PRC. Here is a great boy who gets so excited when he gets to go to a Playgroup or ROMP session. He came into the shelter in June with some medical issues that have been resolved, he's NEVER had a meet and greet, Adventure Tail or INTEREST.

SHHHHH.. ....HE IS ONE OF OUR FAVORITES

Email [email protected] cc [email protected]

PLEASE consider this 2 year old boy as your next BFF!!

He's in kennel D19

NEW NOTES

27-AUG-24 - Interact - 08/26/24 Per volunteer: Orlean was easy to leash and he walked with a moderate pull, but showing no interest in the other dogs. Orlean ran into the yard and headed straight for the fluffy toys. He chased after and returned every fluffy toy I threw him. When he wasn't playing fetch, he was going back and forth between and splashing about in each pool. Eventually, he laid down. He allowed for pets but wasn't overly interested in me petting him. He wasn't interested in treats. Orlean was easy to return to his kennel.

PLAYGROUP

02-AUG-24 - PUSH AND PULL - PP/SO soft, greetings, takes corrections but doesn't listen, playful
Comments
02-JUL-24 - GENTLE DAINTY - GD/T soft, greetings, takes corrections but doesn't listen, playful

How can you help animals in your community and at PRC?🤔

1️⃣If you or someone you know is interested in adopting, you can visit the Pet Resource Center Monday thru Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to find your new furry family member. You can also access the PRC online kennel 24/7. You can even set up a meet and greet with your potential new friend with dogs you may have at home!
2️⃣. Consider fostering a pet. You can foster a pet for a weekend, a week, or a few weeks. Its up to you! No matter how long you foster, the time spent with foster pet is nothing but beneficial!
3️⃣. Take a dog out on an Adventure Tail! If you can’t take in a foster pet, you can always take a dog out for a day trip with PRC’s Adventure Tail Program!

Still at the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center waiting for his true forever person to come find him 💔🙏🏻

Back at the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center SIX YEARS after being adopted. Artemis (fka Hercules) is crate trained, house broken, loves all people, but is described as “selective” when it comes to other dogs. He loves water, and knows several tricks! Please consider adopting or fostering him!

Returned after 24 hours. I wish people would understand that it takes TIME. Most dogs can’t adjust to a new environment in a day or even a week. Please don’t even bother adopting if you aren’t willing to give them an actual chance. Once they have a “return” on their record, they are basically fast tracked to the euthanasia list. This pup would have been better off with a temporary foster, because at least then upon being returned he wouldn’t be deemed “less adoptable” 💔

8-24-24 and returned right away 🙁

Adopter returning due to him being too strong to handle on the leash. Citizen stated he never met other people or pets because they only had him 24 hours but when he met people outside during intake he had no reaction and allows staff to pet him all over with a wagging tail. During the morning, the dog was in the crate and did fine for a few hours in there. He had no accidents and uses the potty outside since he left.

*** Adopted on 8-23-24 in a free adoption promotion

POP A2382579 IS A GREAT DOG, look at those EARS!!! He came in originally in May, he went out recently on a PAWDITION but was returned for being too strong, we love this boy!!!!

He is listed as a 2 year old Staffie he weighs 53lbs and is HW NEG and READY TO GO

PAWDITION NOTES

07/06/24 12:14 paw return due to being to strong. did great in the house seems to be house broken . knows when he is going outside when you grab the leash. he was creat trainned in the house when citizens where not in house. he did great in the create over night where he slept.did great with two older citizens they dont know how he does with kids. didnt get along with there heeler (dog) in the house but did good with chi in house (smaller dog ) . does pull when walking on leash, they do think he needs to be with someone who has a big yard and someone who can handle how strong he is. hes love to cuddle and be loved on and know basic commands.

Meet and Greet Notes

07/18/24 14:45 Pop greeted staff at kennel with loose, relaxed body language. He was easy to leash and pulled mildly while walking. In the yard he explored for a bit before soliciting attention from citizens. He remained relaxed, and tried to jump on a citizen's lap while she was sitting to get more pets. No issues returning him to his kennel. -RC

Volunteer Notes

06/03/24 14:12 Per volunteer: Pop was easy to leash and he walked with a medium pull but no reactivity to the play yard. Pop was friendly and stayed close by throughout the majority of the visit. We went to the garden where we walked slowly around the perimeter and he stayed close by. He is treat motivated and knows how to site for and take them gently. He listened well when we moved between yards and when it was time to go. He allowed long, extended pets from head to tail, and would lean into the pets until he sat down. Pop was easy to return to his kennel.

Please consider Pop's, he really needs a home, he is in kennel B29.

Loves to play! 🥎

Downey is a petite, playful 2-year-old who loves to play with toys and splash around in the pool. She is a curious young dog, enjoying inspecting objects in depth in the garden as if to determine their purpose. She’s a young dog with things to do and places to be stopping briefly to gently take a treat and off again. She sits and recalls well; while giving a look to let you know she has more important things to do. Telling her to “go play” brings the look of a child being told it’s time for recess (a joyous time from bygone days!). She was an owner surrender due to owner’s work hours. She did well with the other dogs in the house; except one dog took exception to her higher energy and playfulness. She is gentle, dainty, and tolerant in our playgroups at the shelter. She is house and crate trained. Downey may have some resource behaviors that our team would be more than happy to give pointers on, and she may do best in a mature household that can provide her support and training! Overall, Downey loves to be pet and loves attention. When settled and calm she is playful and likes belly rubs!

During a recent Adventure Tails Day out, her foster had great notes! “Downey is a sweet girl and has a lot of energy! She did well in the car, and we took her to a nearby park. Once out of the car, we took her by the leash and jogged with her in the shade for some exercise and she stayed by and did not run ahead. After taking a break and drinking water, she explored along a fence. She took treats gently and responded to the sit command well. We brought out a toy and noticed a strong guarding focus, so we took it away from her the rest of the outing. Since it was getting hot out, we brought her over to the dog water fountain and wet her down—she really enjoyed it and wasn’t afraid of the water. A person walked by with a dog and Downey observed and showed interest but didn’t bark or lunge and was easily settled back down. She did appear slightly nervous and would calm down with a mozzarella stick treat. We left the park and went to get takeaway lunch and while we waited in our parked car, people would walk right by and Downey did not bark, just observed.
