Meet Kolby. 🐾

He is a 5 month old, neutered male rat terrier and he is looking for his forever home. He's currently up to date on his vaccines heartworm, flea and tick prevention. He is a playful fun loving boy who would do great with a high energy family and children to play with. He's great with other dog and cats.

Give us a call today for a meet and greet with this handsome young man! 💕🐾

How awesome is it that your pet's health reminders are available at your fingertips with our app! It can be hard to remember everything with our busy schedules.

Did you know that you can set up your own personal reminders within our app as well? 🤯 Let's think about that for a minute....

Does your pet have specialty appointments coming up? (Acupuncture, Boarding, Grooming, Etc.)
Does your pet have daily medication(s) that you always forget to give?
Does your pet need monthly medications? That's even HARDER to remember! (Adequan, Librela, Solensia, Proheart, Cytopoint)
🎯Here's how:

Open your app - Tap "My Pets" - Select the pet you wish to add the reminder to
Lower Right-Hand-Corner tap +NEW
Tap Add Reminder ⏰
Add your reminder description, emoji, date, & time. Lastly hit "Save Reminder"
Repeat these same steps for multiple reminders. If you plan to use this in a reoccurring way, just ✏️edit the date of the reminder after you've administered the medication.

Your future self will thank you 😉

Don't have our app? That's an easy fix! Visit the App Store or Google Play Store and search Albemarle Animal Hospital to download it today.

February is dental health month for pets! Dental health is just as important in your furry pets as it is in you. During dental month, we want to educate owners about dental disease and what they can do to improve their pet’s dental hygiene. Routine dental care is an important way to keep your pet from needing oral surgery to treat infection, but also keeps bad dog breath out of the way of cuddling with your furry friend. Decay and infection can develop under the gumline, where we can’t appreciate it until it gets bad enough that we see dark black/brown tartar building up on our pets’ teeth.

Unfortunately, 80% of dogs and 70% of cats will have some form of periodontal disease by the time they are 3 years old. Early detection at your pet’s annual exams and regular cleanings are critical in preventing periodontal disease, mouth pain, and associated health problems. Bacteria in the mouth associated with periodontal disease can enter the bloodstream and be carried to other parts of the body, causing problems in and around the liver, kidneys, and heart.

Resources for pet owners are at avma.org/petdental. The materials consist of an overview of pet dental health, including information about the use of anesthesia during veterinary dentistry, along with videos on periodontal disease and how to brush a pet’s teeth and a quiz on pet dental health.

Holiday food needs to be kept away from pets, and if you are traveling, either transport your pets safely or find safe accommodations for them at home. Follow these tips to keep your pets healthy and safe during the holiday.

Lots of company can also stress out your pets, so be sure to give them a safe place to get away from the crowd.

We hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday, and we are thankful for YOU!

Is your 🐕 dog in pain? Librela is an Osteoarthritis Solution and here at Albemarle Animal Hospital we take pain seriously.

Whether your pet is aging and starting to show symptoms of arthritis… or, if they’ve had an injury or another medical condition that causes pain… we’re here to partner with you in helping them feel better! We've added another medication, Librela, to our treatment solution list.

Click on this link to take the pain quiz to see if we need to set up a consultation. https://www.zoetispetcare.com/checklist/osteoarthritis-checklist

If you’re noticing any of these symptoms in your pet, please send us a chat 💬 or request an 🗓️ appointment through the app 📲

***Note: Never give human pain medications without first checking with your veterinarian, as many of them are toxic to pets. We have much safer options available here, that are made especially for pets.
