Shop small support a local family business!
2020 was the year my Husband stopped working due to a severe back injury & was the year I started taking the art of cake and baking more seriously than just a hobby, as I worked part time to make ends meet after being a stay at home Mom to three little ones.
May of 2022 we found our new home in Wyandotte Plaza & the build out began for what’s now known as Moozie’s Cake Studio. Literal blood sweat and tears, lots of bruises, scrapes, set backs, cheap pizza & sleepless nights. After growing up in Wyandotte myself, knowing it to be extremely small business friendly, I knew what we had to offer, and I knew it’d be damn good, so we took that chance.
Little did we know that our groceries would soon skyrocket. Little did we know that a moderate batch of our buttercream alone would run us nearly $80.
Little did we know that our Plaza that once sat empty but trying to gain momentum, would still be crickets after 2pm, and we’d have one sale on a sunny, spring Saturday.
I told my stubborn self that if we ever had to compromise my family’s from scratch recipes, we’d close our doors. Call me old fashion but I refuse to cut corners on what we claim is high quality.
Our weekly menu has lessened in size but not quality, as we’ve navigated what everyone loves & looks forward to. We’ve stepped back from customs, as we are trying to supply a fridge stocked with unforgettable cakes that you will not find on hand, anywhere else. I’ve finally shown the love I have for colorful vintage cakes, and it’s something I want to keep supplying, if we can afford to keep them stocked.
We have been giving this our all. Short of moving in an air mattress to the office for the late nights. The small team I’ve always referred to is my Husband and I. Just us, hoping for a small success every month just to dump it back in to start it all over again, the next month. And I know we speak for a lot of other small businesses, when we say that.
