He is about 6 months old and a small breed mix. We aren’t exactly sure what he is mixed with - he would be an interesting case for DNA testing!
This little guy has gone by many names, Puppy, Ratatouille and by his recent fosters - Dobby. He came into the shelter at the beginning of October and was pretty sick with dermodex mange and ear infections. He was immediately taken to the vet and began his long road to recovery.
An amazing family stepped up to foster him and help him heal. Dobby has been with them since October and is now ready for his FUR-ever home!
Dobby’s foster family has a larger senior dog, and while they do get along (see the adorable pics!), Dobby is still a sweet puppy who is still learning boundaries. Sometimes he bothers their older dog quite a bit and she has to correct his behavior. If he goes to a home with another dog, it should be a more patient one or a younger one that can match his play level.
He does have amazing recall, can sit, lay down, is very food motivated, and can walk on a leash. His foster family has a young son, who Dobby loves. From his foster family: “We can’t speak highly enough about how great he is with kids. We’ve joked that he’s been our built-in babysitter when we’re too tired to parent.”
Dobby is almost crate trained. He can easily make it overnight with no issues, but when his fosters are at work he sometimes rips out some of his bed stuffing.
Dobby is also almost potty trained. He has had a few accidents – mainly when the weather is bad outside and he prefers the indoors 😉.
Dobby is a bit vocal - he barks a bit when his fosters leave. He also barks when he senses someone at the door or a new person walks in and when he’s outside and hears a dog or thinks someone is coming in the backyard. His foster family attributes his barking to more alert barking rather than just random barking any time.
He can be a chewer – his fosters have reported that shoes, books & their son’s toys have become victims. He also has no fear jumping on kitchen tables and getting leftovers if left unattended – but how can you say no to that face?!
Dobby is still a puppy and will need some additional training. So if you have the time and patience and love, come meet him!
