The right reasons for dog training shouldn't ever just be "because he's misbehaving", that's the reactionary phase of our lives with them.
We have to start thinking about FUNCTIONALITY and how we can help our dogs become the best version of themselves β₯οΈ.
This requires time and energy to get to know to know your pup for who they truly are and not just what we want them to be. Get to know their instincts, their potential, and their triggers and then craft a program suited just for them personally.
Dogs can adapt beautifully when given the right form of structure, guidance, and love.
The same way we think functionally and proactively for our children's future, by setting up college funds and extracurricular activities. We need to think the same exact way for our fur babies to ensure their ultimate success ππΆ.

"Care less about what others think, and care more about what your dog thinks of you" πΆπ
I've seen that many people who care too much about their public image will tend to mistreat, abuse, neglect, or simply not meet their dogs' full specific needs.
Our dogs should never be our vessel for happiness simply because they're cute. Being emotional like that will make us use emotions such as anger and aggression to correct them because, at that moment, they aren't making us feel happy and are simultaneously making a fool out of ourselves.
Take a minute to think about what your dog thinks about how you're walking him, how you're talking to him, and how you're correcting and loving then.
I can guarantee that you'll become more calm, self-aware, and successful with this new way of dog ownership π

"How to correct jumping without frustration competition or repeated bad behavior "
Our dogs feed off of our energy always. We have to be extremely careful with how we correct and command them. If we are physical in a competitive way, they will undoubtedly think we want to play or fight.
Take a look at this video where I show the difference in improper vs. proper ways of correcting the jumping that's happening π
Oliver, my newest student did amazing!

This beautiful pup has the mind of an ox, lol. She didn't want to walk at all and was giving us a hard time on the leash as well π
Take a look as to how patience is such a key for successful dog training and good leash walking!
She performed so well π

Here's a short training clip where we see the difference between putting on the leash by the front door vs more inside the house.
The former results in the dog forgetting about the owner and focuses solely on going OUT. Therefore he will bite the leash, jump and possibly pull and run out the door.
The latter creates more awareness of the owner, allows us to retain his attention longer and thereby have a better obedient and calm dog ππ
This is "Nurture meets Nature" at it's finest π

Take a look at this beautiful pup learning how to respect my space when I'm sitting on the couch.
Through constant positive reinforcement and assertive redirection she learnt what space was hers and what space was mine.
We have to not just own the dog, we have to learn how to own our house and everything else valuable in our lives. Otherwise, the dog will 100% challenge you for them.
Our loving animal can actually turn into a menace with too much freedom and territory being given to them. Leadership and ownership isnt just about giving treats for tricks, it's a lot mkre about owning what's yours and then learning how to reinforce, share, delegate and reward β₯οΈπΆ
She did so well!!!!

Showing y'all Wednesday's progress over here π
Wednesday is a wonderful and super sweet 7 month old Mini Newfypoo puppy. She has extreme excitement and acts up when people enter the house. Some may tolerate this, however the end result is never in our favor.
She can hurt someone, scare someone or just stay in charge as she sees it. Not everyone has an excitement level that matches hers and it's important to teach her how to respect, give space and listen to proper direction with such a trigger.
Enjoy the video and feel free to ask any questions ππΆ!!!

I cannot even begin to explain how amazing of a transformation these new students of mine went thru in their first session.
These 10 month old Spanish Mastiff puppies were labeled as aggressive, extremely untrainable and overly hyper. There were stuck in the basement for their entire puppy life because of the fear people had for them π’
Now, they decided to reach out to me to see if I could train them at all and hopefully find one of them a good home as well.
When other trainers say no, I will definitely say yes π―β€οΈ!!
By matching their need for dominance and allowing them to be themselves while taking charge in an authoritative, loving and non competitive way they actually became obedient!!
The people couldn't believe how much of a change they showed in an under an hour. I love what I do and I love seeing how both people and dogs alike are capable of change when their needs are met.
Looking forward to more amazing growth!!!

Will I get bit? Will I need a Doctor again? Or will I meet a new student who will trust me and I can help introduce a new life to?
These are the thoughts that go through my head as I approach the house of my newest rescue dog client last night. It didn't help that I already had unrelated nerves inside and I was exhausted after a long day.
I knew that I had to breathe deep, get into the strong and calm mindset in order to stay safe. So after a quick meditation I knocked on the door and met Cookie for the first time.
She immediately went into survival mode and got into attack position with her body. Fear had no place anymore inside, and after a few minutes of instilling calmness in the family she went into her submissive behavior and allowed me to then take charge without her becoming scared and aggressive π.
Who knows her exact past, but what matters is here and now π―
I won't deny the thrill I have with training her. Maybe it's the fact that their bite is so powerful, and she can either destroy me or trust me. I believe in the latter 100% β€οΈ
She needed to be given the chance to KNOW what to do when people enter her home and more importantly she needed to know that she actually trust someone in her new home.
Protecting her, shielding her or punishing her for her survival type behavior does no good. This is a moment for people to rise up with confidence and awareness as to how to lead, love and teach.
She did amazing!!!
Looking forward to more amazing growth π
