Ticks are out in full force! What can you do to prevent or kill them on your pets? Tecumseh Animal Clinic carries a variety of options:
Simparica Trio - Flavored tab given by mouth every 30 days. Protects against heartworms, fleas, five types of ticks, roundworms, and hookworms. Please note that pets need a current negative heartworm test to be on this preventative.
NexGard: Chewable given by mouth every 30 days. Kills fleas before they can lay eggs. Starts killing ticks within four hours of administration, with 99% of ticks being dead by 24 hours. Effective against Black-legged, American Dog, Lone Star, and Brown dog ticks.
Bravecto: Chewable given by mouth every 12 weeks. Kills fleas and prevents infestations. Kills ticks within 12 hours of attachment. Effective against Black-legged, American Dog, Asian longhorn, and Brown dog ticks.
Seresto collar: A collar that provides up to eight months of protection against fleas, ticks, and lice. Kills AND repels ticks and fleas. This is our only product that will repel ticks. Kills ticks within 6 hours of attachment.
Revolution Plus (FOR CATS): Topical treatment that lasts 30 days. Kills fleas, ticks, and treats and controls ear mites, roundworms, and hookworms.
