Good morning! Happy Monday! Last week we finsihed the week with three adoptions! We ended the week at 336 adoptions for the year!

Our partners, SNIP Bus-Spay Neuter Imperative Project, were here on Saturday, for the final clinic of 2024! One doctor, and her team spayed 56 animals! That means through the 13 clinics we held, 686 animals were spayed and neutered! We are proud to partner with the SNIP bus! We will try to expand our clinics in 2024. But to be honest, to double the amount of clinics, we will have to raise and additional $90,000! This all occurred due a combination of grants and donations to our thrift store. Everything that occurs at Have a Heart is only possible through your generosity! We thank you for your support!

At Have a Heart Humane Society, Our Commitment is to the Animals

We want to address a recent post regarding our decision-making process and our response to community requests for assistance. As an organization dedicated to saving as many animals as possible, we are deeply saddened by misunderstandings about our efforts and the limitations we face.

In the past two days alone, we’ve received over 10 additional requests, in addition to the poster's request in question to take in dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens. Each request is evaluated carefully, and while we wish we could say yes to every animal in need, the reality is that our resources are limited. We currently operate with only six display kennels, which can house anywhere from 6 to 36 animals, depending on size, temperament, and other factors. These tough decisions take a significant emotional toll on our volunteers, but we continue to do our best for the animals.

Regarding the specific situation mentioned: we had not made an immediate decision about the request, but after careful consideration and discussion late last night, we had planned to assist and asked the individual to bring the puppies in Friday morning. Because we value a healthy work-life balance for our team, we intended to communicate this decision this morning.

Unfortunately, waking up to public criticism of our organization, despite our efforts to help, has been disheartening. Our team, which is largely made up of volunteers, works tirelessly to rescue animals and provide support to our community. While we understand frustration during stressful situations, publicly disparaging the very people working to help undermines the collaborative spirit necessary to make a difference. As such, we have decided it would not be in our best interest to assist this individual.

We are proud of what we’ve accomplished this year:

333 animals rescued and adopted out.
400 additional animals spayed and neutered through our monthly low-cost clinics.
Multiple families supported with food assistance to help pets stay in loving homes.
These successes are only possible through respectful partnerships with our community. While we deeply appreciate those who share our passion for saving animals, we also ask for understanding and mutual respect as we navigate the challenges of rescue work.

We wish the best for the individual and the animals involved in this situation. To everyone who supports our mission: thank you for your kindness and patience as we continue to do our best for the animals who depend on us.

Sincerely,
The Have a Heart Humane Society Team

UPDATE: The person who was rehoming the puppy, reached out to us this morning. We had a discussion, he said he had thought he found the puppy a home. The person who took the puppy, abandoned it. He signed over the puppy to us this afternoon, and we had a person who came in this morning, after talking to the owner. She filled out an application. And will be in shortly to give Shenzi a home!!

This puppy was found abandoned in the Walmart Parking lot in a shopping cart! She is an approximately eight week old pitmix. She is safe today. She will be on stray hold and then up for adoption. We are calling her Shenzi (hyena from Lion King). She is resting. If you know the owner of this dog, please come forward.

Good Morning, we are open today, but due to unplanned construction on our donation receiving area, we are unable to accept donations for the time being. We are equally frustrated, and appreciate your understanding.

Good morning! The thrift store is open today. Our cup runneth over with donations, so much so that we are overwhelmed and not accepting donations for the remainder of the day! Thank you gor understanding!

Good morning, kind supporters of Have a Heart Humane Society,

As the year comes to a close, we find ourselves in a race against time. So far, 333 animals have found their forever homes, but to meet our 2024 goal, 33 more lives need saving by December 31. And right now, we’re out of room.

Our local county run shelters are full, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. Imagine this: puppies huddled together in a crowded pen, their eyes wide with fear, each one desperate for a warm bed and a kind hand. Or the tiniest kittens left out in the freezing cold, their fragile lives hanging by a thread. Without fosters, some of these precious animals may not make it.

We need fosters now. Not next week, not next month—today.

What does fostering mean?
Fostering means being the hero who steps in to save a life. You’ll:
- Take an animal home and give them safety and love.
- Provide care, training, and socialization.
- Bring them to our adoption events every Saturday—or more often if you can.

We supply everything you need: food, bedding, crates, toys, litter, and more. You just provide the heart and the home.

Why now?
Every day we wait, the risk grows. Puppies and kittens don’t have time on their side. With your help, we can pull them from overcrowded shelters or bring them in from the cold. Without your help, their future is heartbreakingly uncertain.

How can you help?
It’s simple:
1. Email us at [email protected] for a foster application.
2. Fill it out and return it as soon as possible.
3. Open your home and save a life.

This is your chance to make a difference. To be the one who rescues a puppy from a crowded shelter or gives a shivering kitten warmth and safety. You can be their bridge to a brighter future.

Time is running out for these souls. Will you help us save them?

Please, email us today. Don’t wait—they can’t afford for us to wait. Together, we can give them the gift of life and hope.

Good Afternoon! We are closing out a tumultuous week. That started over last weekend with the reports of puppies we adopted out contracting parvo. Of the four who got it, only one survived. Our condolences go out to the adopters of Lisa Marie, Woody and Buzz. We share in your loss, and appreciate the love you gave these pups in the short time they were with you.

We still took in five dogs this week. We are happy to report that four of the five dogs were adopted this week. One is still getting socialized, and we are trying to get her a little more weight on her.

Adoptions this week: Max, Mate, Notah, Whiskey, Cisco and Little Rocket were all dogs that found forever homes! Cats: Mortimer, Curiosity, and Hubble all found their forever homes. That was 9 adoptions for the week and 333 adoptions for year! We ended the week with no dogs available for adoption. We will have puppies available at the end of the week.

You all remember back in August this year, we had a 9 yo Pug Chihuahua mix named Cisco? He was signed over to us from a rescue in the bay area, and we found him a home in a couple weeks after they hadn’t been able to get him adopted in 5 months. Anyway, one of our fosters who loves to foster older dogs, noticed a pug chihuahua mix in the Cal City shelter, named Cisco. He was in the shelter because he was found in his home with his deceased owner. Well our foster, asked if she could pull him, and we happily said yes! Cisco will be back again on Saturday, for adoption. He is a chill senior dog, potty trained, well behaved and very calm and quiet. He is looking for another forever home. Are you his person ? This guy was a rescue from Pasadena, who lived in San Bernardino. Was rescued by the other organization, and then came to us, only to be back with us again. Let’s change his life forever, and give him a forever home!
His ideal adopters would be a single empty nester or an empty nester couple, who take him on a walk or two daily(he is slightly overweight! We could say he is a Pudge not a Pug!), and who want a faithful companion with whom to spend time! This little guy needs a third chance! I know we have a followers out there who “Have a Heart” and will open up their home to Cisco!
