One of the things we encourage our students to do is channel love and support down the leash. We encourage them to feel the love and support in their body and send it down the leash.
We instruct them to repeat the words “I’ve got you, I’ve got you—you’re safe, we are safe.”
It’s one of the best teaching points of dog psychology passed down to us by the great Cesar Millan!
This image is a beautiful demonstration of that method in action!

Arnie’s ice blue eyes and beautiful white fluffy coat showcase his husky heritage. In true husky fashion he’s also a bit of a derp. He’s sweet and shy and melts right into you the moment you pick him up. He’s at the perfect age for training and ranch staff are setting him up right with a foundation in the basics

Arnie, his siblings Becky and Gilbert and mom Bonnie were all found together wandering the streets of Tehachapi. A Good Samaritan picked them up so they wouldn’t get hit or become victims to the elements or wildlife. They completed a stray hold but sadly their former family never came for them. Luckily we had room and the entire family is now calling our rescue ranch home.

Arnie loves playing with his siblings and running around the yard. He loves all things toy and all things fun. What good puppy wouldn’t. Arnie pairs his enjoyment of good times with a nice amount of downtime. He knows how to chill and spends equal time relaxing as he does playing. Ranch staff are working on his leash manners and expanding his canine social skills. We are hopeful to find Arnie a family who will continue his training and give him the forever home he deserves. He’s not up on the website just yet so if you’re interested shoot us a message and we’ll send you the application 😊

Maybe Arthur once lived as a King. Beautiful black shiny coat, big chihuahua voice and all the s***k a chihuahua can own! But today this sweet King Arthur has lost his throne.

Withered and worn he was discarded then found curled up under the seat of a car. A car stolen and wrecked after the driver lead the police on a lengthy pursuit. Somehow, even with his frail body, he came out unscathed. But this little old soul has not known kindness in his old age. Infection plagues the shadow of the dog that he once was. His teeth are brown with decay and his eyes drip with unshed tears. He’s the sucked up wasted away version of what he could be…..a perfectly healthy senior dog. He’s what crappy humans nationwide choose to throw away never taking even a second to look back.

Every bone jutts from his body and the ear and mouth infections leave a pungent lingering smell. But yet he holds no grudge. He searches with eyes that can not see for the human touch he so desperately craves. Pushing into each stroke and leaning what’s left of his small body into the kindness he once must have known. Why do we as a society treat such loyal and loving beings as something less than the kings they should be? While we’ll never be able to answer that thought in our care a king is exactly what this King Arthur will be ❤️

Gismo is off to bigger and better things! This sweet little girl has recovered enough to land a foster to adopt home. To say we are ecstatic for her is an understatement. We can’t wait to watch her continue to heal and thrive in her new home ❤️

Presley is a classic case of the milkman’s daughter. We know her momma Penelope was a pittie but daddy is a mystery to us all. Maybe a terrier? Or how about a poodle? Would that make her a Pitdoodle? Whatever she is she’s enchantingly cute and has a zest for all the wonderful things life holds. Shes full of puppy s***k and oh so much fun and with her fraggle rock face she melts even the hardest of hearts. She’s a doll and we’re here for all of it!

Can you believe this adorable scruffy girl came in to the shelter with her mom and older sister? No one came looking for them but we saw their value. 3 lives given a chance because they were all amazing dogs just hoping to be noticed in the sea of homeless pets. Presley hit the ground running once at our ranch and hasn’t looked back. While her mom and sister were a bit shy, Presley knew no strangers. She’s jovial and fun and quickly landed a spot in foster care.

Presley has adapted to foster life like she’s adapted to every change, it’s an adventure and she loves it all. She loves the people, she loves the dogs and yes she even loves the kitties. Her scruffy little face and love of life is exactly what will get her adopted. That perfect family is just who she’s waiting for. She’s ready for them to scoop her right up and go on her next great adventure the adventure of life! Maybe along the way you’ll figure out who her daddy was cause we all wanna know!

A career in animal welfare? What better way to promote saving lives than with a Miracle Mutts therapy dog visit to Career Day at Lincoln Jr. High in Taft.

We talked all about the opportunities there are to work in animal care and still give back and why we need more kind humans to join the cause. These youth are just starting to consider their futures and we hope our visit will help a few choose a path with animals ❤️

4lbs of adorable chihuahua cuteness just melts our hearts. Viejo Afortunada may have a big name but he’s the luckiest little old man we know. He’s a pretty perfect senior boy who’s content with the simple things in life. A warm space, a soft lap, nice people and mellow canine buddies he can bond with. He’s past all the antics of puppyhood and much prefers the leisurely naps of retirement.

Viejo sadly was found wandering the streets by a Good Samaritan. He’s lucky he was found. With his small size he wouldn’t have lasted very long wandering all by himself. The Good Samaritan brought him to the city shelter where he completed his stray hold and waited patiently for his family to claim him. His family never came. As sad as that is maybe it’s the luckiest thing that could have happened. With his stray hold complete Viejo was able to go into rescue where we’ll find him an amazing home that will love him forever.

Viejo is exactly what you’d expect in a senior pup. He’s sweet, easy, chill. He’s the happiest of tiny lap dogs and loves nothing more than attaching himself to his people. He’s good with other dogs but would also be happy being your one and only. If you love the tiny seniors Viejo just might be the one for you!

We’ve got another Frenchie with a pr*****ed bum…

French Bulldogs have undeniably won the hearts of many Americans, becoming the nation’s favorite dog breed. However, behind their adorable faces lies a grim reality: they are among the sickest canines globally. Prone to a myriad of health issues, from respiratory problems to the painful pr*****ed a**s, their popularity has led to overbreeding and unethical sourcing practices. Despite their widespread appeal, the plight of French Bulldogs sheds light on the pressing need for more responsible breeding practices and better education for prospective owners.

This is why we ADOPT and NEVER SHOP!

This sweet face is hiding all sorts of sad secret’s. The #1 dog in America is being overbred to meet demand and the breed is paying the price! These sweet babies are being born with genetic malformations no tiny puppy should have to go through. X-rays today revealed Ella essentially has no hip sockets. This is why she struggles to use her back legs and keep her balance. She’s too young for surgery now but we all know what will likely happen as she grows and matures. She’ll live a life of pain and significantly decreased mobility. Theres the small chance she’ll adapt and never need surgery but the greater reality is she’s going to need surgery once her bones mature. She’s super lucky to be with a rescue who can make that happen.

We wonder how much more damage this breed will endure before people realize the demand for the breed doesn’t outweigh the destruction breeding is causing. Until they stop we rescues will sadly continue to pick up the slack with funds we do not have. Ella’s future surgeries will run upwards of $8,000-$10,000. Ella deserves a bright and pain free future so let’s make that happen for this sweet little girl ❤️

We just love this goofy ball loving girl and we know you will too! Bailey spent some time learning all the things in our Pawsitive Change Program but has yet to find a home. As a senior pittie the decks are already stacked against her but we hope you’ll see what we see. A good girl past all the antics of the puppy years patiently waiting for her people to give her a chance. So let’s find her the chance she’s been waiting for! Let’s get Bailey the forever home she deserves.

Ready for an Athena update? Watch out cause she’s HUGE!!! We’re continuing her therapy, acupuncture and have added some adaptive pieces to help with her mobility (see the gripper socks). Our goal remains to continue giving her the increased strength and muscle memory needed to be at least ambulatory some of the time. At 6 months old she’s only going to keep growing so we have to give her every chance possible to increase her mobility.

Most of you saw our post earlier this week that we lost our long time supporter and foster Jassmine suddenly. Our hearts break to lose our friend and while we can not bring her back we want to do everything in our power to help her dogs. Jazzy left behind 5 beloved furry family members. 3 small seniors and two larger dogs. Camp Golden Years has graciously offered a place for the small seniors and the two larger dogs Max (German Shepherd) and Sable (Great Dane x) will be going to our rescue ranch.

But here’s the thing. Our ranch is a ranch and dogs are housed in a kennel type environment with lots of outside time. Max and Sable are use to living inside a home as part of a family. They’ve already had so much loss we really would prefer if they could go directly in to a foster or adoptive home. We think this sort of transition would be easiest on them and what Jazzy would prefer if she was still with us.

They can go into homes as a pair or separately. Both pups are between 4-5 years old, fully vetted, altered and great with dogs ( small and large) and cats. These really good dogs are experiencing the loss of their home and mom. They deserve the very best chance of finding new forevers with amazing families. If you can help please reach out to our adoption and foster coordinator’s [email protected]

See these innocent faces….they were all on the euthanasia list at our local shelter. A fosters YES litterally saved their lives! Now before we get all the comments bashing the shelter please understand our local shelters have no desire to euthanize ANY dog. Our shelter staff are amazing (yes we know them personally). They work tirelessly to get as many dogs out as they can. But when the public breeds and dumps endlessly hard choices have to be made as devastating as those choices may be. Our local shelters have been beyond capacity for well over a year and sadly there’s no end in sight. We all know mandatory spay/neuter is needed to fix the issue but unfortunately that is something none of us can make magically happen. While we push for the changes needed and the law makers debate the reality of mandatory spay/neuter lives will continue to be lost unless kind hearted people, like this foster, step up.

A community problem is what our overpopulation crisis is and that means it’ll take the community stepping up not just those of us already working tirelessly. If you’re tired of the death and tired of the pleas please consider doing something meaningful, like fostering, to help the very lives we are fighting so desperately to save ❤️. To foster just head to the linktree in our bio, click “Foster” and fill out the application. Our foster team will get back to you and help you pick the perfect foster situation for your home.

We meet some pretty amazing families in rescue. These families give us hope for humanity and are a wonderful reminder that for every bad thing we see there is always something positive to lift our spirits.

Penelope and her pup Peyton came in together with another younger pup. They were pretty attached and although we weren’t requiring they be adopted together this Marley’s Mutts alumni family decided that is exactly what they were going to do. Mom and daughter will never be apart and together will experience what forever really means. Thank you ❤️

We hate that she had to lose an eye but Stormys going to be the cutest, winkiest one eyed pittie you’ve ever seen ❤️.

Rescue is hard but with followers like you our job is so much easier. Your support fully covered Stormy’s $1,500 surgery. A surgery we weren’t expecting but that she desperately needed. From the bottom of our hearts we want to thank each of you who choose to give and make these happy lives a possibility ❤️

What Jassmine gave she gave to everyone. She was a powerhouse of a human overcoming addiction and the hardest of life’s over 2 decades ago. What she overcame she chose to pay forward dedicating her life to service humans and dogs alike. This woman GAVE!!! She gave her heart, she gave her soul, she gave her entire life to those most forgotten by society.

Jassmine was as real as they come and unstoppable in what she chose to do. She provided a safe space for women and children overcoming addiction and abuse running 3 sober living homes. She fostered and helped well over 1,000 dogs. She spoke in prisons and juvenile centers inspiring countless incarcerated individuals to purse their own change. She participated in therapy services with her dogs spreading joy to those most in need in our community and her answer was always yes when anyone reached out in need. She was the type of human that would give you her very last dollar if that dollar meant you could go on another day.

We can never repay everything Jassmine gave us or the countless others she close to help but we can promise to never forget the gift of life she blessed on so many. We will love you always Jazzy and we hope so many warm noses and big hearts meet you at those pearly gates ❤️

Looking for an all around good girl? In true lab fashion that’s exactly what Ginger is! She’s a great girl! Ginger is a lover of everything life has to offer. A touch shy at 1st she can’t help but come out of her shell quickly. There’s too many wonderful things to experience and she has youthful curiosity on her side. Dogs are her absolute favorite. She’d love a good canine buddy to pal around with and she’s guaranteed to show them just how quick her zoomies are and how fun she can be.

This sweet girl was found wandering as a stray. The Good Samaritan who originally found her didn’t want her to become a casualty of our current shelter crisis so when her time was up at the shelter they contacted us with a foster offer hoping to give her a chance. Their yes guaranteed our yes too!

Ginger has quickly settled in to foster life. Shes learning all about home living and gaining some basic obedience skills. Her foster family is getting her out and boosting her confidence in new environments. Ginger is absorbing everything and ready to find an adoptive home of her very own. If you’ve been looking for a sweet labbie mix girl and will continue the training she needs to be an amazing adult dog apply to bring Ginger home today!

Lucky is pretty lucky! It might not seem that way knowing he ended up at the shelter but that’s exactly where this sweet boys luck started! His time at the shelter meant we saw him. We saw what a great dog he was and are giving him the start to his 2nd chance.

Lucky will be joining the Pawsitive Change crew going into Tehachapi State Prison in March. Only a select few dogs have this opportunity and we know Lucky is going to shine! His happy energy will help the more timid dogs come out of their shells and he’ll get a solid 3 months of obedience training that will help adopters notice him. If you’ve been looking for a trained dog to adopt you’ll want to watch Lucky. He’ll be ready to meet you in May!
