🚨🚨 WE ARE IN CRISIS MODE🚨🚨

We have 72 dogs in our care. This is the most we had in 15+ years we have been doing rescue. And we just got a call to take on 5 more from the puppy mills (which we will of course take). And we get daily several requests from owners looking to surrender, some for valid reasons, most for stupid ones. And all local shelter partners are euthanizing for space.

Animal rescue hasn't been this hard in a long, long time. Nationally, length of stay for animals in rescues and shelters has doubled. And we are still a bit away from historically the worst time for rescues - the summer.

Puppies to seniors. Little dogs to giants. Gentle couch potatoes to working dogs needing jobs. We literally have everyone right now and desperately need qualified adopters, that are able to commit to animals forever.

Please look at the faces below, and the many more on our Petfinder. We will be adding more dogs to the listings on Monday and Tuesday. Please share far and wide.

Severe overcrowding and euthanizing healthy animals is a community problem and only as a community can we overcome it.

List of adoptables: https://www.petfinder.com/search/pets-for-adoption/?shelter_id%5B0%5D=PA450&sort%5B0%5D=recently_added

(Please note that as desperate we are to find loving homes for the animals in our care, the normal application process and requirements still apply).

Chare Gruber, KARE 11: We have a story for you. It was 2 degrees outside today at 1:00pm, and I was leaving work when I saw something sitting on the side of the road. Near Blackdog Road just south of the river along 35W-nothing around for a mile. I couldn't believe what I saw so I turned around and saw a black cat sitting along the freeway looking at the cars drive by. No where to go, river to the north, freeway to the west, a huge wetland to the east. He lifted one cold paw, then the other. I went up to him and he dove into a 25' long drainage pipe and was living under the off ramp. Three hours later, Carolyn and I were trudging down a steep embankment setting traps. We set two traps and within minutes, he was in the trap. Anne offered to take him him. She found a chip in him, called the owner. Freddie has been missing from South Minneapolis since 2015. Thanks to a microchip, he was found 16 miles from home, three cities away. In five hours, Freddie went from living in 2 degree weather under an off ramp to going home-owner is picking him up tomorrow. Lesson of the day, it takes team work, never turn your back, and CHIP your animals! I have more pictures.

When it comes to our feline friends, the last thing we ever want to think about is reviving them. If you found yourself in the event that your cat needed you to resuscitate them, would you know what to do? Artificial respiration (AR) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for cats

When we were trying to pick which animal to spotlight for Giving Tuesday campaign, we couldn't decide which had the most compelling story. Was it Max, the Belgian Malinois surrendered to a kill shelter where staff was unable to touch or handle him for 4 day, now in training for a K9 police dog and thriving thanks to our expertise? Is it Gaia and Atlas, an abused and starved breeding pair of English Mastiffs, now loved and cared for? Or maybe Bertha, an overbred, mistreated English bulldog saved from the Amish puppy mills?

Truth is, each and every dog we saved this year had a story - an owner who didn't want or couldn't provide for them, a puppy mill no longer interested in breeding or a stray saved from the street. Each of the animals was important and loved at the rescue.

Day after day, Phoenix Animal Rescue volunteers put their heads down and worked hard. 435 animals found their way to us this year alone. 435 times we were able to say "yes" to an urgent dog at a kill shelter or mistreated and discarded breeder dog in a puppy mill.

This , we hope that you see 435 reasons to support us. We can only continue our mission with your support and generosity.

From now till Tuesday at midnight your donation made through Facebook, Paypal or Venmo is generosity matched, up to $3,000 thanks to Sue & Steve, The Hiett Family, Lisa Sagon and an anonymous friend.

In an effort to help solve the problem trotters and pacers face when no longer able to race or breed, SRF introduces its newest program for those limited to living as a pasture mate, the Companion Horse Adoption Assistance Program (CHAPS).

Like our canine and feline friends, a horse is happiest when it has a companion / buddy. Horses are also herd animals. SRF is now offering some financial assistance to new adopters of a pasture-mate (aka: companion/buddy). These are SRF's Standardbreds that may not hold up physically to riding, but offer so much to enrich an adopter's life, while offering a friendly buddy opportunity to another horse.

SRF has more than 225 healthy trotters and pacers of all ages under its care and expense from the ages of 4 years to 25 years of age looking for a buddy home! These lovely horses may not able to withstand the physical requirements of riding or driving, but are healthy otherwise. They are located across the country - from Kentucky in the east, to Michigan in the north, Florida south and almost everywhere in between!

The program includes reimbursement for required vaccinations and dental care up to $250 annually, and additional reimbursement up to $350 annually for other approved veterinary care. For more information click here.https://www.adoptahorse.org/chaps-program

The Standardbred is known for its wonderful temperament, excellent manners, and so many are quite comical! Some are as small as a pony, others can be as tall as a Draft horse. Nearly every one with SRF can tell tales of visiting the Winner's Circle in their racing days, or when they had a foal nursing by its side. SRF has more than 400 under its care and expense, all in need of homes. Most need a home for light use, or as a buddy or they would likely still be on the oval, this is why so many are in need.

SRF also has many of its horses in wonderful foster homes. For those who wish to foster, accountants can provide information on the tax advantages it can provide. For information click here https://www.adoptahorse.org/foster-information. Please share this to others, help a horse.

A few horses are available to view here. Most are not shown on the website, their information is available by contacting SRF at 609-738-3255. [email protected]

‼️ HELP ‼️

Earlier today in a local rescue board, we saw the following message - “The 9 puppies are in a very rural pound, being kept outside, place is hosed down a few times a week. No one is there to watch the animals and no one comes on weekends to feed them. If you are able to commit to a few puppies, please comment here and I can give your more information.”

We are so full of dogs. We were planning to close intake for a bit to catch up. But we couldn’t say no after reading about the horrible conditions these little pups are being kept in. Sadly, there is no mom with them.

So, welcome rugrats to PAR. Thankfully a local rescuer busted them out of the shelter and they will be staying locally in boarding to quarantine and receive vaccines and health certificates before making their way to us. Between board, food and vet care we are estimating $1,000 to save their lives. That’s just $111 per puppy. Can you help us with their care?
