Tank (now 12 weeks old) had his second session with On Command Canine, during this session we introduced a โPlaceโ command and recall. Along with teaching Tank what these commands mean, itโs equally as important to make sure his owner understands as well as knowing when to use them in every day life. Letโs give a round of applause to Tank and his dedicated owner for putting in the work ๐ช๐ผ๐พ#yorkiepoosofinstagram #puppytraining #puppylife #dogtrainersofinstagram #dogtrainers #oncommandcanine #oncommandcaninetraining #operantconditioning #fourquadrants #dogsofinstagram #balanceddogtraining #traindontcomplain Interested in having your pup trained? Frankie - Boston Terrier - part of our 4 week lesson program!
Today we introduced leash pressure to Frankie.
Frankie has never worn a collar, been on a leash (or walk!) for her entire 3 years of life, so this is all very new and even a bit scary for her, we are taking it at HER pace.
In case you missed our first post:
Frankie was a rescue from a puppy mill situation, where she was used to pump out puppies and nothing more, therefore not receiving crucial exposure to noises, leashes, collars, strangers, cars, even grass!
Because of this, she has no idea how to be a โdogโ, not even as much as being on a leash!
This is great improvement from her last session with us, as she wouldnโt even move if a leash was in her presence!

Impulse control is one of the most important things you can ever teach your dog.
Jasper & Bauer here are demonstrating it beautifully with the dedication of their owner, and our team here at On Command Canine Training.

Tux working on his place command
Working some throwing recalls to get her more engaged. She even did it with all the distractions. Dynamic engagement is very important in training!
Meet Baby! Baby was doing great while being sent to his โplaceโ, that was until I pulled out my phone. When I took out my phone to record he seemed to be confused about the command even though he had just done it numerous times.
The reason behind his confusion is the camera. Dogs communicate primarily through body language and visual cues, so holding my phone to record Baby changes my body language. This ONE change in my behavior has a huge affect on my communication with Baby and causes him to hesitate and offer different behaviors. In this video I recognize he is struggling and show him that nothing changes. I am still telling him to go to his bed, even though it may look different to him.
Otis has been working pretty hard on his drip-it! Great job Otis!
Gerry Working on his โleave-itโ command! Way to go!
Tux doing some recall work! Good job Tux!
Tux working on his place command! Way to go buddy, youโre doing great.
Moon Moon is a stubborn guy. In this video you will see how I work with him through that and do my best to make it clear what I need him to do. I also make sure its clear when he makes a mistake and I move into fix it immediately. I also make sure to be ready for him to make a mistake so that I can correct him quickly or reward him for making the right choice. Grabbing the leash off the ground when I think he might get up early is a perfect example of that as shown in the video.
Floyd showing off some of his basic commands.
Heres Charlie practicing his drop it. His reward is that we get to keep playing! (I accidentaly call him Cooper in the video)
Riley took a trip to Home Depot today. She did a great job!
