We look forward to being a vendor at the Kennel Club of Palm Springs from January 2nd to 5th, 2025! Please contact us to schedule an appointment during the four-day show weekend. We offer several on-site services and great show specials for semen evaluations and freezings! We've got merchandise, too!

Please be advised to those not attending the show that our Temecula office will be closed from December 31st at 1:00 p.m. to January 5th, resuming normal business hours on Monday, January 6th. We frequently receive inquiries regarding our success with proper positioning for OFA images, specifically for hips. Translating this success can be challenging, so we have included images of various breeds that we have taken this year. We take great pride in our success with these images and many others like them. As extreme perfectionists, we appreciate owners who understand that we strive for the best technique and outcome while minimizing stress and ensuring the comfort of your dog(s), particularly since all images taken here are done WITHOUT sedation.

We would like to extend our gratitude to all who choose to utilize our services for this purpose. We look forward to seeing you and your next generation of dogs on their health test journey! The total of radiographs taken this year (so far!) for OFA submission is 415!

OFA imaging is available Monday through Thursday, and we can often accommodate prompt appointments. To schedule an appointment, please contact our office via phone or text at 951-587-9921.

For weekend appointments, please note that these are ONLY available during our OFA Health Clinic events in conjunction with the Cocker Spaniel Club of California. For more information on these events, please contact Celyn at [email protected] to inquire about upcoming clinics.

We want to take a moment to thank ALL of the club members with the Cocker Spaniel Club of Southern California who helped make our OFA events so successful in 2024! Your participation has been crucial in providing a fantastic opportunity for preservation breeders to obtain the necessary health tests for their breed, thereby setting their next generation of dogs up for success. Additionally, a huge thank you to the volunteers, doctors, and veterinary technicians who participated at each clinic.

We knew when opening Subzero that we wanted to help Celyn any way we could by offering space set up for parking, a larger volume of dogs, and exam rooms for the Doctors and Technicians; the feedback has been incredible, and we are delighted to be a part of it.

Thank you to Dr. Reid Nakamura (DACVIM-Cardiology, DACVECC), Dr. Jennifer Sheahan (DACVO), Dr. Cindy Mar (DACVO), Dr. Janet Moston (General Practitioner), Aldo and Tom (Dental Team) for their care and expertise and for carving time out of their schedules to give an excellent service to the dog community.

Thank you to all of the members and volunteers with CSCSC! To Celyn Van Leeuwen, who organizes and schedules every appointment and orchestrates the volunteer schedule. For fun, here is a rough count of how many dogs were seen based on the service/health test they were scheduled for:
Cardiology: 230 Basic Cardiac, 105 Advanced Cardiac
Ophthalmology: 617
Radiology: 157
Gentle Dog Dental Teeth Cleaning: 306
Thyroid: 85
Patella: 95
GRAND TOTAL: 1'595! That is an average of 319 appointments at each event!

We regularly receive these questions and aim to provide a detailed summary to address them. National breed clubs are a valuable resource for breed-specific testing information, as not all tests are relevant to every dog. These clubs have played a crucial role in promoting breed health by collaborating with experts to find solutions. Furthermore, your primary care veterinarian may have access to recent publications or studies that can inform your breeding decisions and where to begin. We recommend consulting with primary care veterinarian, breed club, peers, and mentors for the latest information. Organizations like the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) provide breed-specific testing recommendations and maintain an accessible database for viewing test results of dogs and their relatives, which is vital for informed breeding decisions!

We proudly offer comprehensive radiographic imaging services for OFA certification, including hips, elbows, trachea, shoulders, and legg-calve-perthes, as well as OFA thyroid panels that are submitted to UC Davis year-round. Additionally, our Cocker Spaniel Club of Southern California-sponsored health clinics provide specialized services in Cardiology and Ophthalmology.
