I know not any posts in a long while.
So we are into May now, daylight for longer hours, temperatures are warming up, just a few early morning clouds, but other than the show barn, time to take those blankets home and wash them, put them up for the summer, have them nice and clean for fall.

For those of you not in the show horse barn we will suspend blanket service by end of May. Those of you wishing to continue with sheets, Sisters will not continue on and off service. We will resume in fall when temperatures and the amount of daylight changes.

Those of you that will replace blankets with fly sheets, that is not a Sisters service. If your horse is on a turnout schedule with us, and if you have a fly sheet on your horse, please inform us if you want the sheet left on in turnout, otherwise we will remove and sheet will remain off till you put it back on.
Thank you for your attention, and being such great clients!

Sisters made it through the storm just fine, as hoped. Thank you all that were concerned, but the Pollyanna in me knew we would be fine. Less rain here than our winter months.

Thanks everyone! We always have your horses best interest in mind!

Thank you to all clients and our evacuated guests for being so reasonable and calm! Several things to look at for future planning purposes. Identification tags or horse/client info to have at the ready so that they can easily be identified when evacuated. There are a number of resources for these online. Check it out on your own. Know that I keep all your agreements filled and if there is any updated info that I might need, let me know, and we can update. I am so happy that we did not have to leave, but it is a reminder to be prepared!

Yippee! They have just reduced our evacuation down to just a warning. I think that is all I have to say! Thank you hurricane for the rain, thank you Cal Fire for keeping us safe!

All quiet here at 4 pm. horses munching on dinner. Haven’t left the ranch but by the lack of cars on De Portola, they still must be stoping some traffic. winds are calm here no rain at the moment but understand they are still a bad factor elsewhere. will keep you posted. All still good for now. Thanks, Rose

Good morning everyone. We are still good here, as Sunni who is closer to the fire at home showed me in video this morning, all is actually better around her. It is breezy here but not anywhere near the winds predicted so far. The air quality to the nose is better than yesterday. Radar shows large patches of precipitation coming in with currently a 75 percent chance of rain! Yes rain, let’s hope. The ranch is under normal operating today, so come and enjoy your horses as normal. We have about 10-12 people that came in from evacuation areas, say hello.
Again, if anything changes, I will let all our clients know.
Thanks, Rose

By now you have all seen the evacuation map that includes us as well as all the way down to Anza and CRC. We are under no threat of fire at this time. From what I understand is that Cal Fire is worried about the storm off the coast of Mexico possibly bringing in high winds and changing the direction of the fire. At this time I am not planning on an evacuation but again at anytime any one of our boarders that has horse transportation and is more comfortable moving their horse on their own is always welcome to do so. However I am stressing that Sisters is not planning on an evacuation at this time. The fire I understand is over 18 miles away and winds are calm or easterly. I will certainly start a call tree with all clients and we have several trailers to transport horses. Those of you with trailers here or at home would be welcome to ready in the event the fire moves closer.

I will certainly watch this all night.
Stay calm!
Rose

With the recent out break of this deadly equine virus, keep our facility safe! Those not needing to venture out, please dont. Read the current guidelines online or consult your vet for safeguards. I have asked potential new boarders to wait till April 1st before coming in and also encouraged them to get tested prior to arrival. Local shows are being postponed and this is serious! If you plan on taking your horses to an event, please let me know. You might be asked to quarantine prior to coming back depending on the event and it’s location.
Thank you all in advance for your cooperation!
