❤️🤍💙HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY! ❤️🤍💙
At Lost Our Home, we see it every year—the DAY AFTER the Fourth of July is the busiest day for shelters like ours. Pets spooked by fireworks run off in panic, ending up lost, injured, or worse. Many never make it back home.
We want to help you avoid heartbreak and keep your pets safe and sound this holiday.
Here are a few tips from our shelter team:
•Verify your pet’s microchip: Call your microchip company and make sure your contact info is up to date. A chip is only as good as the information attached to it.
•Check that your pet’s collar fits snugly and includes a clear, legible ID tag with your current phone number.
•Use calming aids like pheromone plug-ins, sprays, or anxiety wraps to help soothe your pet during noisy celebrations.
•Create a comforting space away from windows—somewhere quiet, with familiar bedding, toys, or even soft music to drown out the fireworks.
•Be proactive: Join local lost pet groups before the holiday so you have resources at the ready in case your pet goes missing.
As a shelter that works hard to reunite pets with families and keep them safe in the first place, we can’t stress this enough—preparation can prevent heartbreak.
Thank you ABC15 Arizona for visiting us to cover this important message!
