2017, 16.1hh red OTTB mare (Super Saver – Tapit’s World, by Tapit)

Shelby is 1 year off the track with phenomenal lines. Unlike a lot of the OTTBs I’ve come across, Shelby is not very quirky and is in fact a very cool and level headed mare that wants to work and strives to please. She has been restarted in a western saddle and goes well in a loose ring 3 piece snaffle. Solid walk trot on the trails and loves to really stretch and engage. While Shelby is still green with only 20 rides, her collectiveness would make her great for the barrel pen, or she could even go in the hunter/jumper direction. Where she is like most thoroughbreds, however, Shelby is not an easy keeper. Because of this, previous OTTB experience is a must.

Shelby is respectful to the fence, has great feet, and has been sound barefoot. Experienced rider or trainer preferred. Does well stalled or 24/7 pasture. If it weren’t for hard times financially, I would keep her and finish her as a barrel horse myself. It will be sad to let her go, but it is within her best interest.

Scooter is an approximately 13 year old grade pony gelding. He has a background in some hunter jumper and overall western riding, however he is only light riding sound without injections. The perfect situation for him would be out in a pasture, ridden w/t 3 times a week maximum (unless one chooses to start him on injections). I would keep the little guy if I could, but I cannot afford a trail pony at the moment. He has been ridden bridleless, jumped, crossed water, and been ridden off property many of times. Great feet, good for the farrier, vet, trailer, you name it. Willing to do an offsite lease to ensure he is the right pony for you. Full disclaimer: He has previously been a great kids pony, but due to some unfortunate lameness issues, he has acted out aggressively in the past due to pain. I’ve gotten him on a good feed through maintenance plan and his attitude has been great since, but I do not feel comfortable sending him to a beginner home. PM for more pictures, videos, details.

Scooter had his first ever bridless ride today and really proved himself! Couldn’t be happier with his improvements in steering, stopping, backing, and general transitions all off my body language. Gonna be a little emotional listing this cute little fella in April, but I’m going to be happier than ever to see him go to his forever home 💕

If there is anything this past weekend at state finals had taught me, it’s that even when you are afraid, you keep pushing. Who cares if you fall off? Who cares if you knock a barrel? I often worry about how other people see me when I run. This past weekend I pushed harder than ever reguardless of who was watching. Why? Because nobody is going to notice what you did wrong. Nobody is going to carry that with them. And if they do, it’s for one reason — they’re intimidated. Don’t let fear of others’ opinions hold you back. Life is too short for that crap!

It’s days like these that remind me of how much I love spending time to figure horses out, and help them to figure themselves out as well. Dallas is my moms horse. He’s always struggled to find forward movement, whether it be under saddle or on the line. Today he showed me that what we’re doing is working 🙂! He’s finally figuring himself out and realizing that forward movement doesn’t have to be uncomfortable, and in fact it can be pretty enjoyable! For most horses, the problem is slowing them down. For this guy, the problem had always been speeding him up… now we’re making all the right progress 🙌

Very late post, but we can’t forget about the infamous Scooter! For his 4th ride in the program, it was decided that he’d tag along at a barrel race! After Quantum’s runs, the arena had a little “fun day” with cool activities for everyone to partake in. How could we pass that up?? (9/4/21) videos posted in comments 🙂💕

Not every moment you spend on your horse is going to be “perfect” or “up to par”. They are living beings and 9/10 times the problems happening under saddle are actually coming from the rider. I lost a lot of money this weekend. Knocked barrels in two of my runs. By my last run, I got my crap together and rode my horse! Brought home a check. Not a whole lot, but enough to feel some redemption 💕
Stop putting the blame on the horse… when things aren’t working out, think of how YOU can better your communication!

Dallas had a great day today! Ride #2 since being in the program. Today we worked on confidence away from other horses, confidence between transitions, and collection. Doing great so far and I’m very proud to say that he is coming along and learning quickly ❤️

Hello everyone! I decided to make this page as sort of a “next step” in my career. It’s been my dream since day one to take on project horses and finish them up, and find them forever homes for them to live out the rest of their days. It’s pains me to see so many horses out there that are untrained or dangerous, but sold as kid safe, broke horses. This is the reason so many horses end up at auction or any other unfortunate circumstances. I’ve been working with horses my whole life, and just started branching out into the training world about two and a half years ago. After seeing the work that I can do, I feel like it’s my time to start moving forward and get stuff done for the outside world and bring everyone nice horses! I’m still young, and always learning. This isn’t going to be a barrel racing page, but rather a foundational training page for all the horses that come my way. It will be a great way to track each horse’s progress. I hope you will all follow me on my journey to get help for all the lost and confused horses out there ❤️
