Avery is just beginning to learn the fun of cantering
Summer is learning how to do a turn on the forehand
Nice calm ride with Brynja âon the buckle.â She is moving along well in her training and responds quickly to the words âwhoaâ and âcookie.â
10yo Summer had her third lesson today and rode bareback. She calmly guided Jill with only the touch of her fingertips.
Theresa is doing the same exercise on her horse, Shorty, that Nichole did on our lesson horse, DâArcy, yesterday. We upped the challenge by negotiating the cones without reins. Our goal is to be able to walk, trot, canter, do simple/flying changes, and even a simple jump course without the reins.
This morning Nichole negotiated the cones by nuance rather than overuse of the hands. She is becoming a very effective horsewoman.
While Amberâs horse, Finn, is recovering from an injury, she rode Clever in todayâs lesson. We worked on easy lead changes and tight turns.
Emersyn getting Ollie to follow her positive, confident energy
Journey is increasing the length of his stride through exercises we have been doing. Our next goal with him is to develop his canter to the level of his trot. He is a really sweet horse!
Amber starts Journey on his outside lead. As they approach the turn at the corner, Amber gently cues him to make a smooth flying change in balance without any interruption of the rhythm. This was our first attempt at a flying change.
Amber Potts is encouraging Journey to stretch down to build his back muscles.Sheâs getting him to balance and remain rhythmic as he also increases his length of stride. All the while, Amber is on the buckle with just her fingertips.
Amber is doing an incredible job of helping to train Journey
