Pearl's Place Pearl’s Place is a Medical Dog Rescue. We work with burns, skin/coat and broken bones. Our one and only goal is to save Dogs lives.

Pearl was adopted from the Harker Heights Animal Shelter the night before she was to be put down. Pearl lived with us the last three years of her life and in her honor we have taken in other dogs that in some minds were less then desirable and have given them a new lease on life. Most of the dogs we take in at Pearl’s Place are;
Code Red on the last ours of their lives
Dogs with skin issues. Dogs

that have been in the shelter for long periods of time
Senior dogs that aren’t wanted
Dogs with broken bones that need orthopedic surgery
Hospice dogs needing a place to live their last days

Hank

I know everyone is worried about our boy. ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

Let me say I think he is feeling better but not out of the woods.

When Hank doesn’t eat, then we need to worry. Well this morning Hank was eating everything I gave him. He doesn’t like the fact that he is in a bedroom by himself. I do carry him outside to potty but with the rainy wet weather that upsets him a little also.

Hank has been resting, eating and taking his medication, but I can tell he misses the feeling of being in the middle of everyone’s day.

I hope in the next day or two he will be feeling well enough and be 48 hours on antibiotics that he can return to our normal schedule.

Scottie

Look at this beautiful girl.

Scottie came into Pearl’s Place as a bloody, scabby, thin shell of a dog. She was a stray and was needing a helping hand.

Look at her now. Healthy, spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and ready for a home to call her own.

Scottie is shy at first until she gets to know you and trust you.

If you are interested in a dog that you can teach how to live a full dogs life this is your girl. She weighs about 40-45 #, slight build and a beautiful smile.

Hank

Our boy went to the Vet this morning.

He loved the heated seats and his Red Light Therapy while they waited in the car to be seen.

Hank has something respiratory going on and a fever.

Hank received a shot of steroids, antibiotics and an anti-nausea shot.

He now has his own room where it is quiet and he is away from the other dogs. Tomorrow, if he isn’t feeling better he will go back to the vet and they will do x-rays on his lungs.

Our Serafina made the 2025 Calander.

It is such an honor to have her picked out of all the dogs that are featured. Looking at it I guess we moved, they say we are now in Harker Heights TX. Nope we are still in Temple TX.

Oh Hank.

He was hamming it up today during his red light therapy.

Hank has it moments when he thinks he is a puppy and others when he acts like an old man.

I think tomorrow I am going to get him into see the Doctor. Something isn’t just right with him. Let me rephrase that!! Something isn’t a little more wrong than normal.

Hank is eating, but not like he was. He is moving around especially when there are other dogs to play with. But he is a little off.

Unfortunately, with prednisone it surpresses his immune system. So, tomorrow I’ll take him in and see what’s going on.

Hank

Today being Sunday, Hank got to sleep in. The noise of the other dogs at feeding time didn’t seem to bother him much this morning.

I’m not sure what is going on with him. He seems to be over his Farmers Dog food or maybe he is sick of all the suppliments he is getting. So, this morning I cooked him up some ground turkey. Odd thing is if I hand feed him he will eat like a champ. If I leave it in his bowl that’s where it stays. Think I have created a monster.

Hank has decided that if the other dogs are going in and out, he wants to be right in the middle of it raising Heck. This boy has definitely decided that this is the World according to Hank. Don’t tell him, but we will play a long with him.

Our second adoption yesterday was George, now Atlas, who was one of our 9 box puppies found out in the freezing cold behind the emergency vet. Brooklyn reached out to us to meet them and instantly fell in love! Word on the street is he loves to snuggle up in bed with her! These puppies have been absolutely amazing with their sweet demeanor, cuddly nature, and who would've guessed they are golden retriever mixes! Happy tails Atlas, you are going to be one spoiled puppy!

We did a couple meet and greets yesterday after our vaccine clinic and a few pups went home, including our sweet boy Dutch!! We were so excited for him! Madelyn and her hubby decided their first dog together needed to be Dutch, now Milo, and they are so happy with his sweet personality, we just couldn't be happier. We often wonder why our older dogs get over looked time and time again. They are potty trained, vaccinated, all get along with other dogs, and so very deserving of their forever. Happy tails Milo, you're gonna live a great life!

Yesterday was a great day for our vaccine clinic, even though it was cold, everyone was kind, patient, all the pups were amazing, and our volunteers were, as always amazing and of course willing to help vaccinate a litter of 8 puppies! Thank you to everyone who showed up, helped out and let us love on your pups! Life is precious, enjoy the moments and hug your babies. Thank you Petco Love for your generous grant so we can continue to make this happen!

Our little Janie, now Fancy has been in her new home with Elizabeth for a few days and is getting along great! She has quite the personality and is keeping mom and big sister on their toes! Happy tails Fancy!

Hank

Our boy started off being a little under the weather this morning. I wasn’t sure if it was because I woke him up at 6:15 instead of his regular 7 or if the weather was so cold that his legs were bothering him.

But in Hank fashion he rallied and was back to himself by this late afternoon.

This morning was our vaccination clinic, so Lucy wheeled him around in the Hank Mobile for a little bit. Then he went in and laid on some blankets where he could watch us go in and out the door.

He wasn’t into eating his breakfast this morning, but he did like some dried liver treats and a couple of valentines cookies. His appetite wasn’t what it should have been but he did eat some of this breakfast after a little bit.

I understand Hank is going to have his ups and downs. Thank God, so far his downs are just hiccups in his day.

He is such a loving boy. Aunt Susan and him had some snuggle time before we started the clinic this morning. Then he had to give me a kiss while I was carrying him in from potty. Hank also got kisses from on of his fans.

Thank you all for loving Hank as much as we do.

Hank

Hank wanted to play model today.

He had on some nice clean pajamas and then he decided he wanted to roll in the grass.

Hank is getting so he can waddle when he wants to get around, but when he has had enough he rolls on his side and plays dead.

Lilly

This girl is needing someone who wants an agility dog or a working dog in some manner.

I had picked Lilly to be a dog to detect gluten for me, because I am deathly allergic to gluten. She has done everything asked of her at only 6 months of age. The problem wasn’t Lilly it is with all the other dogs here making the time to work her everyday just wasn’t realistic.

Lilly is very intelligent and good with the other dogs. She is good on a leash, knows sit, down and heel. She is easy to lure and dried liver is her favorite.

We will be very selective on Lillys person for the simple reason that she really deserves the chance to work that I can’t give her.

Hank

Today, Hank and I first went to the bank with our deposit.

Second we went to Shipley’s to get donuts for Hank and the Girls. This guy has learned what Shipleys donuts smell like.

Third, we went to Atrium Coffee. If you are in the Temple area, you need to go see them. They are a coffee trailer down on the southern end of 31st street. The girls are always so sweet and knowledgeable.

This afternoon we played dress up with Hank. He had his pale green paisley pj’s on and his hat, then we added the glasses.

Hank is so curious about the world. He is like a child getting to see life for the first time.
