Tomorrow will be a very busy day. After potty, everyone gets a bath/blow dry then off to the vet for their 2nd vaccinations. I will comb through their coats to be sure there are no tangles and see if I can trim their fuzzy toes and bottoms.

I gave the pups cold (small) carrots for a treat today. All of my dogs adore carrots...and anything I might be chopping on the counter. I don't feed great amounts of veggies in case of tummy upset but I enjoy paying the occasional veggie or cheese tax b/c the dogs love it so much. Always do a little research into what is good or bad for dogs and pay attention when your pup poops so you know if you're giving too much. Goodies are ok in small amounts and it is always fun to make your own if you want to try. :)

I decided to groom Violet today. She was good for the most part but her feet are incredibly ticklish and she simply cannot be still for it. Since it is mud season, I decided to do clean feet (which she absolutely hates). So before I started, I decided not to make a fuss about anything, pulled treats out of the freezer and went to work. When I started on her legs, she started pulling away like always so I put my arm over her back and under her belly to hold the foot (a tip I saw this week) and wow! What a difference! If I needed the foot flat on the table, I picked up the opposite foot so she couldn't left the leg I was trimming (another grooming tip I ran into). While she wasn't perfect, I gave her a treat for each foot when I finished it. Needless to say she will be the only dog I groom today bc she is tricky.
Spend time preparing your puppies for the groomer: play with their feet during nap time, teach them to "shake," pet them with an electric tooth brush or a pair of running clippers everywhere, handle the face, tail, ears, belly. Brush their hair. Violet was an older pup when I got her and has never been good with grooming bc her breeder didn't prepare her for it. Your groomer will thank you.

We started something new this week: come to the crate for breakfast! It's not downpat yet but we'll get there. The adults eating their own breakfast in their own crates is a little confusing bc of all the smells. Everyone knows that everyone else's breakfast is ALWAYS better than your own. LOL

Snow! Violet was ecstatic but the pups had serious business to do bf they could play. The potty schedule makes a huge difference. All of the pups know what to do as soon as their feet hit the ground outside.
