I received a really meaningful compliment a few weeks ago. A friend mentioned that she appreciates how much space I give horses to process when working with them.

This is a stance I frequently take when working with a horse. I have fought off fears of clients thinking I am killing time, or that they’re not getting their monies worth because I’ve seen it mean so much to horses time and time again.

There are so many things that are just done to horses, I feel strongly about giving them time to think, process and give me feedback.

During these moments, I’m listening, watching where the energy is flowing and where it is stuck, and putting up a protective force field around the both of us in hopes of allowing the horse to do and feel whatever they need to feel most comfortable.

Besides helping map out inflammation in bodies for massage, my thermal imaging camera came in clutch when trying to locate an abscess. It’s amazing how a tiny little hole can cause so much pain.

I got to love on Skittles today after a string of rides and an intense conditioning ride yesterday. I believe the best bodywork is proper riding.

That being said, when we expect them to be athletes, it’s only fair that we support them the same way human athletes are cared for.

Bodywork can speed up the removal of wastes and lactic acid build up, reduce inflammation, and restore full range of motion.

Skittles had some particularly spicy spots in her sartorius muscle, which has a direct connection to the psoas minor muscle. In humans, sartorius and psoas minor are entirely separate and a good chunk of people don’t even have a psoas minor 🤯 🤯
