Nico!
Update: ADOPTED!
Where are all of our German Shepherd lovers? This is Nico. She’s a gorgeous 5 month old and she is smart! She learns very quickly and gives great eye contact. Judging by the size of her paws, she will probably be a big girl. Nico is spayed and ready to be adopted!

Peanut butter is a special treat. Combine it with a kong and it provides much needed stimulation for shelter dogs. We are always in need if you would like to donate. Always be sure your peanut butter does not contain xylitol or “birch sugar.”
This is Petey. He is about 7 years old. Super friendly and loves a cuddle. He is also very clean. He will not go in his kennel. Some may say he’s over the hill but still has lots of energy and life in him.
Rosie and Buddy got some sibling time this morning to play together. They have been quite sad. Their family, while moving cross country abandoned them at the shelter. They are very sweet and would love a family to take them home.
Adult dogs are only $75 right now. A perfect time to add to your family.
Owen has an eventful day!
An update on our fan favorite dog, Owen. This morning, he went outside and met two friends, Al and Pacino. Al is a very shy, scared dog, just like Owen, and the three of them bonded immediately. This trio will now enjoy play time as often as possible.
This afternoon, Owen had his first vet visit with Dr. Holscher. As we suspected, Owens paw is a birth defect. It only affects his mobility inside the building, and that is due to the way the nails have developed (see the original photo below). We are evalauting his progress, but there is a real possibiity he will need to have one or more nails removed so he can better navitage being inside. He is fine on grass. Right now, our staff have to carry him in and out. We are also instructed to "get some groceries in him." :-)
As you can see, Owen--and ALL of our animals--get the best care we can humanly provide. Our staff go above and beyond, for little pay, because they are passionate about what we do at THHS. Please, give them a thank you when you stop by. They really appreciate it! We will continue to update Owen's story as he begins to live his best life!
Heidi needs a foster!
Heidi is in need of a foster. If you recall, we took Heidi in. She was pregnant and having hip issues. We are now looking for a foster for her so that we can consult with the vet and possibly pursue the surgery. The problem is that she will need a home to recoup in post surgery. Heidi is the sweetest pup. She loves to play and be goofy. Heidi does not like to be around other dogs, so she would need to be the only pet in the house. If you are interested in fostering her, please reach out to us so we can get this girl to a healthier state.
Our volunteers are so important to our mission! This is just some of what they do to help get animals adopted. If you'd like to join our team, email [email protected] . Our next volunteer orientation is Saturday, June 17th!
