With the upcoming Texas deer season, here is a guide to skinning out your trophy for a good mount. First cut around the middle of the body, all the way around. Next, cut around each front leg just above the knee joint. After that, follow the line between the white hair and dark hair on the back side of each leg, staying out of the armpit and cutting all the way down the sides to the cut around the mid section. Once that's done, start carefully skinning and removing the hide while peeling it down/off of the legs and as far down the neck as you can without cutting into the hide. Once you reach 2 or 3 inches behind the head, then you can remove the head and place everything in a black plastic bag and place it immediately in a freezer or drop it off to your taxidermist! Leaving extra hide is better than it being too short! Cheers, and good luck to everyone this season!
