Congratulations to Petra’s new owners! Petra is less than an hour away from me so she is staying close, and we could t be happier about it! It’s bittersweet but this is the last post. Good luck to her and her new owners, and many happy trails to them!

was first in ground and handling and first on trail in the pro division and overall professional division champion. She was also awarded best condition in the pro division.

I am so proud of this horse and she has come so far in 120 days. I don’t have any other words I can use to describe them this. But we only have the auction and left, and whoever gets Petra, they are getting a fantastic mare!

Awards and auction start in a couple hours, and we will see where we end up!

Phone storage is acting up so I sadly can’t upload the entire video of ’s trail class. But the last half is the best part. Our round penning session started a little rocky but she saddled up great and did her walk, trot, canter pattern well.

This is after we went back into the round pen. Her gate out of this section was the worse, but then the rest of her trail class was wonderful. She looked at water feature for a second before entering. At this point in our division, Petra was the first horse to go through it.

Super proud of her! Now all that is left to do is give her a well deserved bath and dinner. We can’t wait for our freestyle tomorrow so stay tuned!

has finished her groundwork portion of the and competition. We had two slight bobbles with the trailer and tying, but we are thrilled with how she handled the whole thing!

Very quiet schooling for at the Kirk Fordice Center in Jackson today. She is all settled in and doesn’t have a care in the world.

Today was our last ride in the arena today. We are heading to Jackson tomorrow afternoon. Thankfully, it is a short drive for us. Today was bittersweet. I’m super excited for this weekend but also sad that this girl will be leaving afterward.

We are 7 days away from our final moments with , 6 days away from stepping into the arena for our first class, and 5 days away from moving to the Kirk Fordice Center to get ready for the competition. We are so proud of what this mare has turned into and what she can do!

It’s gonna be sad to see her leave but we are also excited for her to be starting a new chapter in her life after next weekend. This is the last check in for . These videos are unreleased videos I’ve had of her that I’ve been saving or just never made it into a video so what better time than now. I can’t believe it’s only two weeks until competition time.

So a few things about Petra here:
✅ She is fearless (we’ve actually tried to scare her)
✅ She is willing
✅ She is confident
✅ She has been one of the easiest horses I’ve ever started and she has been a joy to work with

To the person who takes this wonderful mare home, you will be lucky to have something so fun loving and ready. We are working on the last bits of her freestyle but we are feeling ready!

Petra had her first show yesterday at Reunion Farms. We went into two flat classes where she placed fourth and second.

This show really helped see what we still need to work on before her competition May 19 & 20. We are only 20 days away so time is ticking.

and I are in in Jackson this weekend for the Mirka Crew - The Sky Is NOT The Limit clinic for the The Safe Horse Project. It was a successful first day. Mirka had us focus a lot on specific body parts on the ground and in the saddle, and started us a little bit on liberty in the round pen. We realized we still have a few things to work on before the competition this May but we will be back tomorrow for more learning.

This is the largest group Petra has ridden with and she was not bothered being in a small space with a bunch of different activities going on, but I can’t say I’m surprised. Petra is never bothered much. We met some nice people who were all interested in Petra, so they got to meet her in person and fell in love with her bright personality!

Can’t wait for tomorrow!

We are in the final month of this competition with . For anyone looking for their first/next horse, see if Petra would be perfect for you!

Petra is a coming 5 year old quarter horse mare. She stands around 15.2 hands in the front and 15.3 hands in the back, but she is still growing. She stands for the farrier and can live comfortably barefooted. I’m herd dynamics, she is going to be in the middle. She doesn’t start fights but she’s not one that’s gonna let herself be bullied. 

Petra would be best suited to:
✅ trail riding
✅ ranch riding
✅ extreme cowboy racing

Petra would fit perfectly into a show barn or into your personal herd. She is:
✅ brave
✅ confident
✅ laid back in arena or open fields
✅ can go off property

She has been one of the easiest horses for me to start. It’s gonna be hard to let her go, but she’s ready to find her forever person!

Sadly with this rain coming in the rest of the week, I don’t know how much riding I’ll be able to get done but that’s not gonna stop us from working on the ground. We’ll just be in the confines of our barn lol!

Petra has faced the dragon today! Thank you to Kate Anderson for being my dragon today! It was a fun filled day with lessons and students helping around the barn on this nice Sunday.

We are getting close to May and the end of this journey with . If you are interested in coming out to see her or try her out cause I’ve had a few people who are interested, please fill out an application and get approved to bid on her at the end of the competition in May. You can fill out an application through Mississippi Horses. Once you’ve been approved as a potential adopter, then you can schedule a time to come out and try her!

It’s hard to believe we are half way there until the Heart of the Horse Expo that is taking place in May. We are already thinking about our freestyle and getting everything ready so we can start preparing her.

Yesterday, Petra (and the other horses) got a well deserved day off because of the disgusting weather we had. She also received body work from Salina Kelly. She said Petra was well balanced and only had some general tightness from being in work. These videos are from last week, working on the gate and more collection work.
