Ark La Tex Animal Clinic

Ark La Tex Animal Clinic We are a full service veterinary clinic that offers surgical procedures as well as many other services, they're all listed under the service tab.

We are an affordable alternative for pet care. We offer pet sterilization as well as annual vaccinations, rabies shots, flea/tick preventative that are affordable to most everyone. We are a small, locally owned hospital that operates with minimal expenses and overhead in order to offer inexpensive procedures. Ark-La-Tex Spay Neuter Clinic is owned and operated by Dr. Beth Wheat. Dr. Wheat is a 200

4 graduate of LSU Veterinary School and a graduate of Pleasant Grove High School. While working the last several years, as a relief veterinarian, Dr. Wheat has had the opportunity to work in a low cost spay neuter clinic and has seen the benefits of having a low cost alternative for pet care, while still offering the same great care. We look foward to serving the local community and our "Furry" friends. Feel free to come by and visit or call if you have any questions.

I am worn out from trying to care for all of the pets in town that do not have a regular vet and do not provide these pets with preventative care. For those of you who are unaware every pet in the state of Texas is required by law to have a rabies vaccine by the age of TWELVE WEEKS It must then be boostered a year later, followed by annual or tri annual injections. There has recently been an increase in the number of rabies cases in the region. Texas law states that if an animal that is not following this protocol, it must be quarantined by qualified officials for 10 days to monitor for symptoms OR humanely euthanized and submitted for rabies testing. This is extremely important so that the person or pet bitten by such animal can relieve proper care as rabies can cause a number of issues or death.
I am also tired of veterinarians in general being bashed by people on social media who NEVER know the full story about what is being said. Some of these bite cases happen as we are trying to help a sick or injured pet. In certain situations it is not possible to muzzle or sedate for health concerns. We try our best to treat every pet and client with kindness.
Veterinarians are working long hours to try and pick up the slack for these pets who have no regular vet. They are not vaccinated, are not spayed/neutered or on heartworm prevention. We as a profession lose doctors daily to SU***DE because of the way we are treated by the public which only makes more difficult for us to fit you in. Please be kind and get the full story before acting ugly!
*****as for the most RECENT POST...
The pet in question was extremely ill. I was trying to take an xray of the pup to try and diagnose why he was having difficulty breathing. Patient had not had any previous care and was suffering. While quarantine was offered....it would have been inhumane in this case as the baby would not have been able to receive proper diagnostics and treatment during the quarantine.
It is also very possible that he was suffering from an untreatable illness.
PLEASE BE KIND!!!! YOU DONT KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON IN SOMEONE ELSES LIFE AND YOUR HARSH WORDS COULD CAUSE SOMEONE TO TAKE THEIR OWN LIFE!!!

Somebody please come get this sweet girlCurrent on vaccines and heartworm prevention I will spay her as well
