What is Parvo?
Parvovirus is a highly contagious disease that attacks white blood cells and the gastrointestinal tract. In puppies, it can also damage the heart muscle.

🚨 Urgent: Earl Needs a Loving Home! 🚨

Meet Earl, a stunning 1-year-old German Shepherd/Husky mix with a black and tan coat and a heart as big as his personality. 💙 This sweet boy is overflowing with love and just wants to give hugs and kisses to everyone he meets. He enjoys going on walks and is great on a leash, making him the perfect adventure buddy. Earl also likes to play fetch (sometimes!) and would thrive in a home with a fenced-in backyard where he can run and explore.

While Earl has only been in the shelter for less than two weeks, he is struggling badly with kennel anxiety. 😞 The stress is causing him to injure his paws, and it’s heartbreaking to see such a loving dog suffer. When he's out of the kennel, he’s a completely different dog—happy, affectionate, and eager to love. He has been tested with a large-breed female dog and did well, but a meet and greet is required to ensure the perfect fit.

Earl is heartworm positive, but his treatment is fully covered—he just needs a loving family to see him through to a happy, healthy future. 🏡💖

In preparation for “Parvo Season”, TCAS is hosting our own Parvo vaccine clinic. Last year, Denton County had the highest number of reported Parvo victims in the state. It hit our shelter hard and we treated many puppies that came to us with Parvo. This is our way of helping to stop the spread of the deadly virus, in hopes of saving lives.

Forrest, Arlo, Lilith, Fiji, and Bing B**g have been waiting for months—since October and November of last year—to find their forever homes. That’s Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, and now Valentine’s Day spent in the shelter, watching other dogs come and go while they patiently wait for someone to choose them.

💔 They’re starting to lose hope… but we won’t give up on them! 💔

These incredible pups are loving, playful, and full of life, but they need you to give them a chance. To help them find their families, we’ve reduced their adoption fees to just $40!

Meet Chip, a 4-year-old neutered male Terrier mix with a stunning black and grey coat. This sweet boy is heartbroken and confused at the shelter. 💔 He came in as a stray a week ago, and sadly, no one came to reclaim him. Now, he’s waiting for a kind and loving family to give him the home he truly deserves.

We wanted to take time and acknowledge two amazing animal shelters. When your shelter is only equipped to provide proper care for 20 dogs and 30 cats, but you are faced with the daunting task of suddenly providing care for an additional 88 animals. Though it seemed challenging, The Colony took measures to provide vet care and ensure these pets were healthy.

These two shelter reached out during this process and offered to provide support. Once we won our court hearing, allowing us custody of the animals, they came to running to our aid.

The Colony Animal Services would like everyone to help us in giving a huge shout out and thank you to both Plano Animal Services and Garland Animal Services. We know you will help these loving cats find their fur ever home. Your help and support means the world to us.

Last week on Friday these kiddos got groomed last minute so they would be fresh, clean, and looking their very best before the got sterilized this past monday. We would like to take a minute to thank Karina with Fresh Mobile Dog Spa for coming and giving these babies the chance to put their best paw forward in an attempt to find their new forever family.

Well it definetly worked because Moki and Pepper have already been ADOPTED! Sammy is currently on a medical hold and is not available for adoption but we will post in the coming weeks when he is available for adoption once he has healed.

Help us find a home for Earl. This one year old Shepherd/Husky mix has only been at the shelter for just under two weeks but he is not adjusting well. He is jumping up at the kennel and is hurting his paws because he so badly wants to spend all of his time around people. His kennel anxiety is not getting better the longer he’s here so we really need to find him a home! He is friendly with other active dogs (female dogs specifically he has been tested with.) Meet and greets are required if there is another dog in the home. Earl is a happy boy who just wants to spend every moment he can hanging out with his person, giving hugs and getting lots of love.Earl is heartworm positive but in less than two months he will be good as new and treatment is fully covered by TCAS. Thank you to the staff and volunteers who came in to clean the shelter and care for the animals. It appears they had a great time playing in the snow! If you need to report any animal animal in distress, please call the non-emergency line at (972) 625-1887. The shelter will be closed tomorrow. Keep your animals warm, stay safe and enjoy the beautiful snow! (More pup pics in the comments!)
