Jousting day!!! When I was a kid every summer I participated in the MOC Olympics. We would gather together then ride our ponies up Wildcat mountain with a stop at my grandmother's house for refreshments. We would camp out on the mountain and in the morning ride to Merry Oak Farm, where Nick Arundel would host a competition for us which included a pony swim across his lake. One of the competitions was jousting. He would announce us one by one as Lady or Lord, and off we would gallop to try to spear the rings dangling on hooks on the grassy lawn near his house.
Fast forward to today and jousting day is one of my favorite camp activities. We only set it up once a year for the Mounted Games camp, but lesson riders all get a chance to try it as well. If you're driving by and see some odd looking structures, they are holding the rings. And one small piece of Nick Arundel,'s legacy will live on in the many children who come through our doors.

My favorite camp of the year... Well they are all my favorites but this one is definitely special. Mounted games camp first day campers had to save the duckies from the Barren Desert and get them to the Pond! They had to lead their ponies over Hot Lava, collect some Lion Chow, weave through the Forest of Doom and then feed the Raging Lion.
They crossed the Jagged Mountains, picked up a Jewel of Light and threw it in the mouth of the Blue Dragon. They crossed the Bridge of Trepidation which kept getting narrower, then collected a Golden Ring to exchange for a Ducky. They left the ring in the Barren Desert and took the Ducky to the Pond. Ducky saved!

Congrats Lindsay! Champion Short Stirrup Equitation AND Reserve Champion Short Stirrup Hunter AND Winner of the VHSA Eq on the Flat.
And congrats to CJ who had some very good rides on Giggles in pre Short!
Of course we have to recognize our wonderful horses and ponies as well - Cupcake, Beau, Paris and Giggles - you rock.
These girls worked hard, trained hard and made great progress in those 2 weeks. As a trainer it's very satisfying to see that pay off.

We had a wonderful clinic on the up and coming discipline Working Equitation! Thank you to our fabulous clinician Stephanie Jennings, to Michael Alway for the use of the beautiful indoor arena, and Teresa Pilegaard for organizing everyone! #workingequitation

We had the BEST time at our Michael Alway Clinic in Boyce. Take a peek at the beginning liberty session with a young miniature horse from Simple Changes! Thank you to everyone for coming, it was a very full, very rewarding day! This is also the indoor where we are hosting our Working Equitation Clinic on Monday, February 19th!
