Let’s talk about something that’s not so fun but super important—male cat urinary obstructions! 😿

Did you know that cats can get a urinary blockage? This can happen primarily in neutered, male cats.
Signs to watch for:
- Frequent trips to the litter box with little to no results
- Blood present in urine
- A very loud, ‘deep’ meow
- Lethargy and not wanting to play.

Coco visited for being non weight bearing on his leg. His care team performed radiographs and he was diagnosed with a fracture. His nurses quickly splinted his leg (in a fashionable manner of course) and he was sent home with some pain medications.

With the heat still in full swing, remember that our furry friends feel it too! Walking your dog in hot weather can lead to heatstroke and other injuries. Here's why: Concrete and asphalt retain heat, making it much hotter for your pet, and these surfaces can burn their paw pads. When it’s above 80-85 degrees, it’s best to walk your dog in the early morning or at dusk. If that’s not possible, keep walks short and stay on the grass. Always provide plenty of water and watch for signs of heatstroke, such as excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, and confusion. If you notice any of these, bring your pet to us right away.

Another Pet Tip Friday coming at ya! 🐾

Traveling with your pet? Set you and your furry friend up for a successful trip by carefully packing their essentials. Bring food, a bowl, a collar and leash, a waste scoop, plastic bags, grooming supplies, medication and first-aid, and any travel documents. Pack a favorite toy or pillow to give your pet a sense of familiarity. Be sure to pack plenty of water, and avoid feeding your pet in a moving vehicle.
Your pet's travel-feeding schedule should start with a light meal three to four hours prior to departure, and always opt for bottled water. Drinking water from an area he or she isn’t used to could result in stomach discomfort.

I had a little adventure recently—I escaped from the house for a few minutes! It was super exciting, but I ended up with a small wound on my side. Boo! My pet parent took me straight to UrgentVet to get fixed up. The team there took great care of me. They were so nice, I hardly even noticed I was at the “scary vet’s office” (lol). Tubby Thomas visited for a minor upper respiratory infection. He had some sneezes and a congested nose. His care team sent him home after a quick antibiotic injection that lasts several days. During Tubby’s visit, he enjoyed LOTS of cuddles and love from his care team. 🧡🐾
