Find Izzie

Find Izzie On May 28, 2022, Izzie was reported missing by the dog trainer working with her. Izzie is deceased

05/29/2024

2 years ago I received the phone call that Izzie had been stolen while in the care of a dog trainer she had been entrusted to. Thanks to the help of an amazing community of dog lovers, friends, and total strangers on the internet, no stone was left unturned in the search to find Izzie.

Over a year later someone finally came forward with the truth that Izzie was dead. The person who claimed to be a qualified dog trainer had fabricated the entire story of her being stolen and what I had always feared to be true was.

My heart had always felt that Izzie was no longer alive but I couldn't give up on looking for her until I knew for certain. In the journey to find Izzie, I learned that so many dogs face similar fates at the hands of dog trainers, dog walkers, and others who misrepresent themselves in the profession.

I know there are GOOD people out there who work with dogs but the lesson so many of us have had to learn the hard way is that there are unfortunately many who are not.

Izzie paid the price of my mistake, but my hope is that we can teach others to be diligent about who they trust with their precious four-legged family.

I miss Izzie so much. Everyday. Give your pups some extra love for me today.

10/18/2023 UPDATE:

To our beloved community,

We apologize for our continued silence as we understand your desire to receive updates. To be honest, it’s hard to stay silent, and some days, it feels as if we’ve been forced to be silent. But our legal journey is ongoing and we must continue to protect our case.

If you send DM’s asking for information or updates, please understand that we cannot and will not share anything, publicly or privately.

Again, our safety matters.

We must continue to protect ourselves and our case. In doing so, we pray that our legal case will support similar cases in the future.

We want you to know that we are doing everything possible to seek Justice for Leia, while also honoring our needs at this time.

This entire journey has taken a toll on all of us. With that said, we still have faith. God sides with the truth and the truth always prevails. Sometimes, it just takes time.

We understand your desire to know what’s going on behind the scenes, and we ask for your continued patience. In those moments when you feel impatient, we humbly ask that you consider the impact that this journey has had on us…

From the torturous amount of time that continues to pass, to the hundreds of messages and emails that we have to sift through, to the harassment that we’ve received online, to the threatening calls in the middle of the night, to the questions upon questions from people in our DM’s, to receiving similar stories from other dog families that tug at our hearts, to the trauma that we’ve endured and continue to endure...

Our family is being tested. At times, we battle with the inhumane nature of it all and find ourselves asking God “Why?” But then we are reminded of our faith, and that faith alone will carry us through this. We allow our tired hearts to rest in the arms of God, knowing that He is with us.

We’d like to remind you not to interfere with our investigation or lawsuit as this only makes things worse for us.

Please trust in our process.

We are doing everything with absolute integrity because we have nothing to hide. As such, we do not engage in or condone any behavior or conversation that lacks integrity within our community of supporters.

With that said, we kindly ask for your continued patience, support, and love. We’d also truly appreciate prayers for a peaceful resolution and restitution on reasonable grounds.

If you have real information that will support our case, please reach out via our website or call/text: 512-730-0801

Do not send important info via DM’s on Instagram or Facebook.

And if you’ve experienced something similar, and your dog was injured, killed, or went ‘missing’ while in the care of a dog care provider, we invite you to share your story with us so we can help show our lawmakers just how prevalent this issue truly is.

To submit your story and to read the stories from other dog families, head to:
https://findleia.com/share-your-story/
*We highly recommend having a box of tissues handy.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

All our love and gratitude,
Ruby, Kevin, and Luke

An Izzie Update:

A few weeks ago, a person we believe to be a reliable source, came forward with the truth about what happened to Izzie. Izzie is deceased and has been since before Zac Carman reported her missing. The person who came forward with this information did so because they were finally in a place where they felt safe to share the truth. I will share as much as I know and can. So many of you have spent the last year+ looking for Izzie, sending messages of encouragement or sympathy and I think you deserve some closure as well. I needed time to process the finality of this information.

If what this person shared is true, as we believe it, Izzie was dead a few days before Zac Carman reported her missing. She was found dead in his camper. Izzie was never stolen from Zac’s truck. Izzie never even made it to The Woodlands on May 28th. I do not have many details other than the person who contacted me saw Izzie themselves and can confirm she is dead. Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has been updated on these details.

In January of this year, Zac Carman and Chris Minnick, the owner of Archangel K9 were found to have shared responsibility for Izzie not being returned and were ordered by small claims court in Montgomery County, Texas to pay a sum of money. As of this post, neither one has paid. In Texas, dogs are considered property, and civil court was the only option to pursue justice for Izzie. No amount of money will ever replace Izzie.

If Izzie was deceased before Zac Carman reported her missing, that means he falsified a police report and lied in court.

In March of this year, I was contacted by another dog owner who sent two dogs to Zac Carman for training. In the weeks prior to the owner reaching out to me, Zac had stopped responding to the owner. We learned that one of this owner’s dogs was killed by one of Zac Carman’s dogs. He stopped responding to the owner and then lied to them and said the dog ran away. The truth finally came out about the dog’s death. Meanwhile, Zac Carman had continued to charge the owner for boarding and food. When the surviving dog was returned to the owner, the dog was malnourished and not trained. We waited until we confirmed the surviving dog was returned before sharing details.

There are more people and more dogs out there who are victims of Zac Carman.

There are still questions that I do not have the answers to, and likely never will. I am thankful to have some closure. Although I would have looked for her forever, I now know that she’s not out there somewhere. I have an enormous amount of guilt that I was not there for her in her last moments and anger that someone who didn’t deserve it stole those moments from me. I can only imagine what someone so heartless did with her body. I failed Izzie.

I hope that people learn from Izzie’s story before they trust someone with their baby. I know there are good, dog professionals out there. Zac Carman is not one of them.

I want to thank all of you for your continued kindness and support. Please continue to share Izzie's story and give your pup some extra love for me today.

It has been one year since Izzie was reported missing by "dog trainer" Zac Carman of Archangel K9.

While we don't have all of the answers, we have reason to believe that Zac's story is not the truth about what happened to Izzie.

Izzie is missed every day.

Izzie was picked up for training on April 11, 2022, by qualified dog trainer Zac Carman of Archangel K9. Trainer Zac Carman and owner Chris Minnick of Archangel K9 were highly recommended by several coworkers who used them to train their family dogs. They also work with local law enforcement K9 officers.

Izzie was supposed to stay with Zac for four weeks for a board and train to work on leash walking and how to not jump on people. Zac said he would post training updates on Snapchat and keep in touch by text messages. I messaged Zac each week to check on Izzie, and as week four ended, I asked about her progress. Zac said he had been sick and asked for more time to work with Izzie. He also recommended her for agility training. I asked him to send me more information about the agility training, and he did not. After an additional week, I asked how Izzie was doing and again about the agility program. He said Izzie was doing well and would email me the information, but he still did not.

After a communication breakdown, I told Zac I missed her and wanted to get her home. On May 24, 2022, Zac said he could drop her off that weekend. We made plans for him to drop Izzie off at home on Sunday, May 29.

On May 28, around 9 pm, Zac texted me to ask if he could call me. He called and told me that Izzie was stolen. Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was on the scene when Zac called. I was given directions to meet MCSO at their office in The Woodlands to complete a statement and provide them with information about Izzie.

Zac states that he uses the parking lot and garage near Landry’s in The Woodlands (1212 Lake Robbins Dr) to do distraction training. Zac states he arrived around 7 pm with 4 dogs, three in the backseat of his truck in kennels and Izzie in a kennel in the bed of his truck. He watered the dogs and took one dog out to start training. The ONLY camera in this area caught him walking a dog around 7:22 pm in front of Woodforest Bank ATM. When he was on Lake Robbins near the parking garage entrance, Zac reports a white female in her 40s or 50s with short, blonde hair approached him and was upset about the dogs being left in his truck and that the e-collar was cruel. Zac identified himself as a dog trainer, thanked her for her input, and continued training. When he arrived back at his truck, Izzie was gone. Zac states the kennel in the bed of the truck where Izzie was held was open, the tailgate of the truck down, and he found the collars tossed in the brush behind the truck. He briefly looked for Izzie in the surrounding area and then called MCSO just before 8 pm to report her stolen.

May 28th was Buzz Fest at The Woodlands Pavilion. Thousands of people were in the area that night.

Early evening on Sunday, May 29, Zac and Chris met me at Landry’s to walk through the route Zac took. As mentioned, the only camera in this area was at Woodforest Bank ATM.

On Monday, May 30, Zac met with local news reporters for the stories broadcast on Fox26 and KPRC Channel 2.

I have learned that Izzie was staying with Zac at his residence in the Grangerland, Texas area.

The owner of the company is no longer responding to my messages. I have asked for information that I feel may help find Izzie, and it has not been provided. Chris Minnick states that he has sworn statements from people who say they saw Izzie the day of and the day before her disappearance, but I have not seen those statements.

I hope this post encourages someone to reach out to me with more information. Someone knows something. Maybe someone saw Izzie before May 28th. I need answers.

One year ago today, Zac Carman picked up Izzie for training and she never came home.

Zac Carman is still training dogs.

Please be careful who you allow to care for your animals. I trusted Zac with the most important thing to me and he did not deserve that trust. I will forever live with that guilt.

Izzie would be 6 years old today. Not a day goes by that I don’t miss her. Happy birthday Izzie doodle.

We cannot wait until the day when we can share EVERYTHING we have uncovered through our search and investigation.⁣

All we want is to have the freedom to share THE TRUTH about what really happened to Leia on Sunday, June 26th… and what Luke witnessed.⁣

Since our journey to began, we’ve heard HUNDREDS (yes, hundreds) of similar stories…⁣

Dogs mysteriously vanishing or being injured or killed while in the care of dog sitters, boarding facilities, and dog trainers… ⁣

Dog owners being lied to…⁣

All of which leaves the dog’s families with very few options to uncover the truth or seek justice.⁣

𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗜𝗦 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗢𝗞.⁣

And although I may not have the stomach to lead this journey to create better laws to protect our dogs, I do have the will, desire and online platforms to raise awareness for this rampant issue.⁣

My prayer for our lawsuit is that it sets a precedent which will help dog families seek justice in the future.⁣

Leia deserves justice.⁣
The lives of ALL dogs matter.⁣

🙏🏽Please keep sharing. Help us raise awareness for this greater issue and together, we can create a safer world for our dogs.⁣

—⁣
P.S. if you have experienced something similar, please share your story with us at www.findleia.com under the “SHARE YOUR STORY” section. We are collecting and publishing stories to show the world (and our lawmakers) just how rampant this issue really is. ⁣
