It is not just heartworm we have to worry about in Texas 🐜

Ticks also spread a host of illnesses, such as Lyme disease, Erhlichiosis, Anaplasma, and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever🤒 Luckily we can prevent most of this by keeping pets on regular flea and tick prevention. It typically takes 24-48hrs from attachment for a tick to transmit illnesses. Preventions we prescribe (such as Simparica or simparica trio) work by killing the tick within hours when they attach, so they don't linger long enough to make your pet sick 🐶
