Good morning Houstonians! We are finally thawed and things are returning to normal. It should be 70 degrees tomorrow. Houstonians are not accustomed to being cooped-up; if you are like us, you are ready to get out and about. Here are some fun things going on in the city to help get you moving...
Take a trip to the beach for Galveston restaurant week. Through January 21, 40 Galveston restaurants will offer prix-fixe meals with special pricing.
Restaurants will feature two and/or three-course dinners priced between $20 and $35. Additionally, two-course lunches, breakfasts, and brunches will cost between $10 and $20. Go to galveston.com for additional information. It's a great website to find out events happening on the island.
Yaga Chili Quest & Beer Fest will take place Friday & Saturday in Galveston as well. It kicks off with a party at Yaga’s Café on Friday and continues with the festival on Saturday. Enjoy chili and beer, listen to live music, participate in a 5K fun run/walk, a washer pitching tournament, or a jackpot margarita contest. Tickets are $10 for chili tasting, $30 for beer tasting or $37 for the combo, with VIP options available.
The International Gem & Jewelry Show will take place at NRG today through Sunday. Shop directly from designers, wholesalers, and manufacturers at this event.
The Rockets will host the Golden State at Toyota Center, Saturday 1/20, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $19
The 2018 Houston Women's March will take place downtown on Saturday 1/20 from 10-12.
The musical, Kinky Boots, will take place at Jones Hall Friday through Sunday.
Discovery Green will feature Hello Trees! This event transforms visitors’ voice messages into light and music, inspired by the inaudible connections and processes that exist in nature.
If you haven't had enough of the cold, lace up your skates and take a spin around the ice rink at Discovery Green Park.
Check out the houston press.com for concerts in the area, go to houmus.org for things going on at the 19 museums, or take a stroll through Houston zoo.
Whatever you may decide, we wish you a wonderful weekend!
