Adopt. Foster. Donate. Volunteer. We depend on memberships, donations, grants, and fundraising efforts.

We are a private, non-profit humane society serving the Thomasville community and Southwest Georgia as a "limited admission" shelter, focusing on animals in need of owner surrender. We adopt animals, provide medical care for newly adopted pets, and provide low cost sterilization services with the "Wellness Waggin," our mobile veterinary bus. Like all humane societies and SPCAs, we are independent

and are not affiliated with, nor do we receive regular funding from, any national animal welfare organizations or advocacy groups. Your interest in the welfare of the lost, homeless, abused, and abandoned pets in our community is greatly appreciated and vital to our continued success. Only financial support received locally will ensure our future and allow us to continue to care for the 4,000 animals per year that come through our doors. Your continued support means the world to us! We work hard to be the area’s leading advocate for animal welfare. Please help us continue to help them with your financial support!

Thank you to our friends at Pebble Hill Plantation for putting on such a fantastic event on Sunday! 📖

We enjoyed the opportunity to meet author, Catherine Ledyard, and hear her story, "Pageant's Miraculous Journey." This story is especially meaningful to us and we were delighted to be a part of the event, joined by so many wonderful community partners.

Our pups at the event, Peach and Rocky Road, soaked up every bit of love and attention they could get. It truly was a great day! Thank you for including us!

🎃 We're offering Trick or Treat parking again this year! 🎃

We know that tons of people come from all over town to Trick or Treat at Madison Grove subdivision on Halloween night. With all of the traffic, costumes and excitement on that busy road, things can get a little... spooky— and not in a good way! 👻

Last year, for the first time, we opened up our lot across the street to offer safe, affordable, nearby parking. There were so many of you that told us how much you appreciated having that option, that we've decided to do it again this year!

We are offering parking on our lot across the street from Madison Grove for only a $5 donation per car. Your donation will cover the lighting and porta-potties we need, with the rest going towards the animals in our care.

We are still in need of some adult (16+) volunteers to help us guide parking that night, keeping things safe and running smoothly! So, if you have no plans and want to help out in the community join us! (PS. If you are needing hours for MERIT, NHS, or otherwise, this is the easiest few hours you can get!) Sign up at [email protected]

We hope everyone has a safe, enjoyable Halloween! We can't wait to see you and your costumes!

Here's a little dose of Peach to brighten up your Monday! ✨

You know the saying, ‘We don’t deserve dogs?’ - Miss Peach is the perfect example.💛

This sweet girl has been through more than any pup should have to endure. Peach was brought to us from a local vet after her previous owner wanted to put her down due to her having mange—a totally treatable condition! We took her in, hoping to give her the chance she deserved, and we were thrilled when she was quickly adopted. But sadly, it wasn’t the happy ending we’d hoped for.

Peach's adopter requested to return her a few weeks later, citing potty accidents in her kennel. Upon her return, Peach was in rough shape and we were heartbroken to see the neglect she suffered while she was away.

But here’s the thing about Peach: her spirit is unbreakable. Despite everything she’s been through, Peach hasn’t lost her joy or her faith in people. She’s a joyful, loving, total wiggle butt who greets everyone with kisses and tail wags. She’s amazing with other dogs, adores kids, and stole the hearts of everyone she met this weekend at our community events!

Peach is looking for a forever home that will treat her with the kindness and compassion she truly deserves. Could you be the one to show Peach what real love looks like? Come meet her and see just how amazing she is! 🥰

🚨 Happy Tails Alert! 🚨

Little Peanut was one of the chihuahuas we rescued back in March from a hoarding case involving more than 64 chihuahuas. When Peanut arrived at Thomasville Humane, he was just a few weeks old and fighting for his life.

We brought him to Clanton's Veterinary Hospital to receive the vital treatment and care he needed, and while he was there, a member of their staff fell in love with Peanut and decided to adopt him.

We're thrilled that we get to visit Peanut regularly at Clanton's and see him now at 8 months old, happy, healthy, and thriving!

The photo on the left was his intake photo back in March and the photo on the right is from yesterday. We're happy to say that not much has changed except his size 🥰

Peanut's emergency care as a puppy was made possible by people like you! Give a gift today to our Emergency Medical Fund to create more second chances for adorable pups like Peanut at thomasvillehumane.org/donate ❤️

This handsome stud is Sirius 🖤

Sirius recently made his way to Thomasville Humane as a transport from Manatee County, FL after Hurricane Milton.

Sirius is approximately 7 years old, but don't let his senior status fool you! He loves to play fetch with a ball and run around exploring every corner of our play yard. But when it’s time to wind down, Sirius is all about the snuggles. He’ll curl up at your feet (ball in tow, of course) and soak up all the pets and love you’ve got to give.

This sweet boy is already neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines, making him ready to go home today! Come meet him during open hours, 1-6pm, or visit our website at thomasvillehumane.org/adopt to see who else might be waiting for you! 🐾

Meet our Collections Keynote Speaker, Mr. Jeffery Aronson 🎤

From his home on the island of Vinalhaven, Maine, Jeff Aronson has chronicled the Land Rover world as Editor of Rovers Magazine for 30 years. Rovers Magazine, the nation’s only Land Rover enthusiast publication, goes out in print to over 25,000 subscribers quarterly, and online to over 60,000 enthusiasts worldwide.

Jeff has attended and written of Land Rover club rallies, Land Rover/Range Rover road tests, and Land Rover corporate launches throughout the US and worldwide. His professional background as an administrator and faculty member in History at the University of Vermont, his work with National Endowment for the Humanities programs, and his extended family in Great Britain have lent a distinctive approach to his articles and columns.

On the island, Jeff serves on town governance committees, Moderator of the annual Town Meeting, boards of non-profits, and as a licensed EMT with the island’s ambulance and rescue service. His current vehicles – all British– consist of three Land Rovers (1966 Series IIA 88” SW, 1967 Series IIA 109” SW, 1998 Discovery I SD) and two Triumph sports cars (1977 TR-7 FHC, 1980 Spitfire).

When not maintaining his vehicles, Jeff enjoys splitting firewood, working as a property manager for seasonal residents of the island, music and theater.

We are incredibly honored to have Mr. Aronson as our keynote speaker of the event, giving unique insights to the Land Rover world, and its longstanding relationship with our canine friends.

Don't miss the opportunity to meet and connect with this Land Rover icon! Get your tickets now at thomasvillehumane.org/landrover

Our Story

TTCHS is open-admission shelter and contracted with local government to provide animal control services to Thomas County and the 7 municipalities therein. The present facility has been located at 180 Big Star Drive for more than 20 years and can now shelter over 300 animals at a time. Like all humane societies and SPCAs we are independent and are not affiliated with, nor do we receive regular funding from, any national animal welfare organizations or advocacy groups. The aforementioned animal control contract provides about 40% of our yearly income. Memberships, donations, grants, and fundraising efforts, therefore, make up the majority of our annual revenue. Your interest in the welfare of the lost, homeless, abused, and abandoned pets in the community is greatly appreciated and vital to continued success. Only financial support received locally will ensure the future and allow them to continue to care for the 4,000 animals per year that come through the doors. Your continued support means that the ones that do not have to be euthanized for reasons of health or public safety have a chance to find a good, loving home. The shelter works hard to be the area’s leading advocate for animal welfare. Please help them continue to help them with your financial support!
