Hey guys! I'm getting a lot of inquiries for grooming fearful, anxiety dogs.
I do take them on as private appointments on Thursdays my day off so I can take my time with them.
Grooming fear aggressive, anxiety ridden dogs is a huge risk to my well being!
The chances of a nervous, fearful dog bitting are extremely high! I'm not new at this!
Private appointments for dogs of this nature start at $100 an hour.
And no, I will not take a scared dog, throw it in the tub, blast the hell out of the dog with the dryer just to get it done in an hour to save you money!
If you have a groomer that grooms these kinds of high risk dogs cheaper, then let me know and I'll send any inquiries I get to them that feel I'm too expensive for this kind of risk!
These dogs need a calm and gentle touch and need to learn they will not be hurt. That takes training at the groomers.
A dog trainer does not train these types of dogs for regular obedience class prices.
When looking for a reputable groomer for your pet no matter what type, condition, etc, do your research!
In our industry there is little to no guidelines.
Anyone can call themselves a groomer.
Here in Ct we have inspections and have guidelines to follow as far as how our facility is set up and maintained.
A groomer should be trained in all breeds, coat types, "breed clips" skin care, have a background of experience and knowledge of basic training and even some basic vet tech knowledge.
We encounter dogs with behavioral issues on a daily basis and also many times may have a dog come in that is just not feeling well, have a sore or a lump, weeping eyes, ear infections, sore leg... we need to be trained and experienced in noticing these things so we can notify the owners so the owner can get the pet the medical care or professional training the pet needs.
This pretty lady has been having some itchy skin issues with hot spots.
I've been giving her medicated baths the last few appointments and she is having some nice regrowth of fur coming in pretty quickly.
And her Dad told me she feels so good after her baths π
I use a shampoo and conditioner line of Davis Veterinary products which is highly reccomended by my veterinarian so if your dog has a skin infection, hot spots or allergies I have the stuff to help them feel better!
