These children have been identified as having special needs or are part of the juvenile corrections system. We use trained dogs to help children achieve academically, socially, and in their pursuit

of employment. The magic of the dog and child connection breaks down barriers, provides support, and creates an environment that allows teens to learn important life skills through firsthand experiences.

Our Kids and Canines team had an amazing time at the Great American Teach-In! 🐾 We visited three local elementary schools to share the amazing work our dogs do. And Finn even managed to get some pets from the mayor herself.

A big thank you to the schools (Seminole Heights, Heritage, and Mort) and students for having us—it’s always a joy to connect with our community and inspire the next generation!

We took a little pause from our regular ADAPT classes yesterday to get festive and make some homemade dog treats for the pups in our lives! Can you tell who was on our clean up crew and assisting every step of the way? 🐾

And if you’re needing a new, easy, and Patriot-approved dog treat recipe to try at home, here’s ours:

Mix 1 cup peanut butter, 2 cups oats, and 1 tablespoon honey into a dough. Press into your favorite silicone molds, refrigerate for an hour, and you end up with - batch of tail-wagging treats made with love!

Next week, they’ll proudly showcase everything they’ve learned at their graduation, and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate their accomplishments! 🎓 🐾

Every week, Finn heads to school with his mom, Colleen, to bring smiles, help kids grow their reading skills, and to boost their confidence. This week, he added a little extra joy to his visit by rocking his Halloween costume—a Space Jam jersey! 🏀🐾

You know that feeling you get when you just know the dogs are up to something but you aren’t sure what?

Well, two buckets of water later to clean up this muddy mess, I asked my dogs, “Who did this?” And immediately Scooby slowly climbed on the couch and turned his back on me. His guilty face says it all!

We Need Your Help! Hurricane Milton caused significant damage to our office—with a tree falling on our roof causing damage, broken limbs and fencing, repairs will cost us over $10,000. Bringing Smiles and Support to Students!

At Kids and Canines, we believe in lifting children’s spirits—especially during tough times. After the challenges brought on by Hurricane Milton, many students returned to school facing loss and uncertainty. We knew we had to step in and help.

So, we brought our incredible dogs to Thonotosassa Elementary School for a special student support event aimed at helping kids process their emotions and focus on positive mental health. 🐾❤️

Our pups made a big impact, offering comfort and companionship to over 300 students, reminding them they’re not alone. Sometimes, a wagging tail and a furry friend to lean on can make all the difference.

We had the best time at Amalie Arena this morning for today’s Strike the Stigma event.

Our dogs loved making so many new friends with kids and providing them comfort and support. And not only that, but meeting the one and only ThunderBug!

What an honor to team up with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Blue to champion youth mental health and to give them space and resources to express themselves, work towards brighter futures, and get help if they need it. 🏒💙⚡️ A mission that aligns so well with what we work to accomplish at Kids and Canines every day in the lives of the most at risk kids in our area.

Every week we partner our lovable program pups with enthusiastic teens for our ADAPT training program. These dogs don’t just learn tricks; they learn how to spread joy, offer support, and provide companionship in schools. 🏫💕 And we’ve got something special to share with you! Here’s a snapshot of the tricks our dogs have been learning at Armwood High School, thanks to their dedicated teen trainers.
