It’s hard to believe that 12 years ago a much younger me set out to work with people and their dogs. It’s been quite a journey with many highs and lows but I honestly wouldn’t trade it for anything. I truly believe that helping to cultivate the human/canine bond is my purpose and I am beyond grateful to be able to fulfill that purpose in my work. It all really wouldn’t be possible without all the amazing humans and dogs I’ve been able to connect with along the way!

I’m truly grateful for all my career continues to be and to all of you for following along!

Hello, I’m Rachel Laurie Harris,
Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA). Figured I’d reintroduce myself since it’s been a while.

I found my calling training people and their dogs after volunteering at MaxFund as a dog walker (12 years ago). There, I saw that the thousands of dogs stuck in shelters are there because of easily trainable behavioral problems. I realized that if you take the time and work consistently with these disorderly dogs, they can learn to trust people, behave politely, and find the homes they deserve.

Over the last 12 years I’ve been privileged to work with families and dogs that have taught me about the power of the human/canine bond. I’ve cultivated a skill set of meeting families where they are at and customizing the training to their needs and lifestyle.

I’m committed to continuing my education, following key research, and helping you distill that information so you and your dogs are getting the best training plans available. Developing relationships with your furry family isn’t static, and our training techniques shouldn’t be either.

I work with all breeds and families, but have a soft spot in my heart for the blockheaded bullies 💖

Can you even handle how cute Waylon is in his muzzle?!

It’s been so amazing to see a lot of public opinion about muzzled dogs start to soften over my 12 year career. I think that cute, bright colored muzzles have had a huge impact on that!

Dogs wear muzzle for so many different reasons. Waylon doesn’t need to wear a muzzle often but it is a skill we have worked on for years. Working on low stakes muzzle training can be hugely helpful for the stressful and emergency situations our dogs may face.

I’ve been a muzzle advocate my whole career and while at first glance you may feel sorry for a muzzled dog. Take a second to acknowledge that the person who cares for the muzzled dog is doing their best to keep their dog and the community safe. You’d be surprised how quickly most dogs learn to love their muzzle thanks to careful conditioning and positive reinforcement!
