Took the opportunity for extra practice in the group, and owner handler ring, thinking that no way would Bri place given her current lack of coat. Baby Brigid was a super star though! She took OH GROUP 2!!!!! I’m so thankful to the judge for finding my pretty girl! Not much you can hide when you left all your hair on the barn floor! Getting up at 5 am was certainly worth it today! Yay Bri! So proud of my baby!

Stanlee and Sawyer have graduated puppy class! Odi is close to graduation as well, and Bender is off and running with a working group 1st and 2nd placing in the 4-6 month puppy! Good Boys!

The Bernese Mountain Dog is considered an all purpose farm dog. StanLee and Brigid are demonstrating their ability to supervise their pony, Minnow, while she enjoys some fresh yard grass. Minnow has been a member of Elysian Acres since 2021. She was saved from an auction and is the best Pony any dog could ask for!

Little red boy impressed everyone yesterday with his clean and effortless movement and beautiful structure. His temperament is that of a true and confident show dog. Traveler is now named Bender- Elysian’s Three Sheets to the Wind v Maharaja! We are so proud of how all the boys have turned out, but Bender is going places! Keep your eyes peeled for this spectacular boy. ❤️❤️(Video in the comments!)

This mornings training session is on crate training! Dogs (especially baby ones!) need kennels. Period, end of story, I will die on this hill. Teach your puppy to love their kennel. There is no safer place for them or your shoes. 🙃

It’s a gorgeous day to work puppies in the yard!!
It may not seem like much, but there are so many skills at play here!
1.) walking on a leash
2.) uneven surfaces/obstacles
3.) getting comfortable with heights and down and upward slopes
4.) having something go over your head
5.) Different surface textures
6.) being away from your littermates
7.) learning how to earn rewards
8.) seeing people as a source of fun and joy- creating that human animal bond.

This is one of two sessions for the day. It’s difficut to do more individualized things with 5 puppies, but even these short 10 min sessions are so helpful in creating well rounded dogs that will soon be part of someone’s family. Giving them the tools to succeed and setting them up for success is just as important, I’d *almost* go as far to say more important than health testing. It takes a lot to be a truly responsible breeder and I hope with every litter I learn more and continue to find ways to do better. These boys are amazing teachers.

Cruise remains the largest at 16.1 lbs 😳 with Journey right behind him at 16! They are going to be big boys!

Fresh baths and blow outs would make these pics look a bit better, but the underlying structure of all of these boys is amazing! They are all beautiful! I cant wait to stack them up again at 8 weeks!
