We all love a FEEL GOOD story....4 yr old recently castrated ster stallion, Elijah, was sold over 2 yrs ago to a little horse crazy 11 yr old girl in Virginia, Femke, that had recently lost her mom. Vivacious hard-working Femke rose to the challenge of her big new friesian, and here she is today, with her sweet boy from https://www.blacksterlingfriesians.com/, Elijah is not always perfect, but as they grow together, he is helping keep Femke on track in life with a positive focus, and a FULL heart:) I lost my mother as well, at age 16, and know all too well how important it is to focus on a positive and rewarding athletic challenge at such an unpredictble and perilous juncture of a young life, when you lose a parent at a young age. I received a text today that just reminds me how VERY IMPORTANT it is to stay in the moment, and enjoy YOUR friesian horse, no matter what those pesky dressage divas say:) If you ask 10 equestrians their opinion on a horse topic, it is almost certain that you will get 7-10 differing opinions. Teunis SPORT recently arrived from Europe for Teresa in Texas: "After having him only one week I went to a trainer stable and she basically told me I was no good and so was the horse and then I would need a lot of work in the saddle after only being on him for a half hour, on a saddle that didn’t even fit him. And then I started paying a girl to come over and ride him once a week for me because I got it in my head, I was no longer a good rider and there was no way I was gonna be able to ride this big horse because I always had Arabians. I’ve been doing groundwork with him every day. This morning I was sitting there eating my breakfast, and I was so sick and tired of not listening to my intuition and guts. I decided I was gonna forget about dressage and go ride my horse just the way my dad taught me on a cattle ranch when I was a girl. So I tacked him up, went out there, pretending we were looking at cattle and checking the fence lines. I rode the way I’ve been riding since I was a girl and I had the best hour of my life today. Teunis is AMAZING!!!! It resonated w/ me the other day when you said I'm not a dressage person, I'm a Friesian person. Cemented into my brain from here to eternity.
