If you don't follow through, it's all on you.

Don't waste my time, your time, your dog's time, and your money. Even "easy dogs" can do serious damage if not given rules, boundaries, and accountability.

Trainers see first hand what happens when owners don't follow through. It can have serious consequences. At the end of the day, the dog will tell the truth about how their owner leads their pack.

Winnie wrapped up a 2 week board and train here recently. I had set myself the goal to simultaneously walk Winnie and Porter and we met it.

Winnie came to me for the other side of reactivity…overwhelming excitable. She also just simply didn’t speak dog. We introduced boundaries, both human and dog, new commands, her fancy dancy new ecollar, and heel just to name some of it.

I had so much fun with Winnie, her parents are a joy to work with and are so committed to her learning journey ❤️

Teach your dogs they can settle together ✅

One more reason we do not use or recommend the "gentle leader or other harnesses that come across the dogs face.

Here is the vascular system in a canine head. This highlights the enormous amount of blood flow in the dogs nose. This blood flow serves many purposes, fuels the scent chambers, aids in temperature regulation, allows dogs to effectively track, but this also makes the dogs nose incredibly sensitive to touch. This is the main reason you should not use face harnesses. There are plenty of tools designed to communicate with dogs that do not put pressure on one of their most sensitive features. Working with Chet tonight on some offleash and heel work, not rushing up and down the stairs and overall patience. That puppy brain is working

Paddy’s lesson today was all about building confidence. She’s a young girl out of rescue, we know she probably didn’t have a whole lot of exposure in her early life stages that are very important so we’re making up for it now.
I love working with these pint sized dogs 🥹

Rico came into clinic for his yearly wellness exam and vaccines. Previous visits, we’d have him medicated, muzzled and everyone full of stress.

This visit however, was completely opposite. He was not medicated, not muzzled and everyone was stress free. Dr. Hurst was able to listen to his heart, check teeth, and vaccinate Rico with no fuss.

Rico’s BIGGEST issue, is that he does not want you in his space. If he is not in the mood to be touched, he will let you know. “Consent based training” is something I’ve had to learn a lot about to help Rico in his journey. Watching his body language, offering a smidge of affection and pulling away to see if he’s still interested.

Rico continues to improve, and we all continue to learn more. Good boy Bandido ❤️

Zuzi had her big girl off leash lesson at the hounds from hell farm. (Huge props to Karina for the “chef’s kiss” of fencing layout) we introduced the ecollar flawlessly and were able to let Zuzi just be a dog off leash at the end, sniffing, squirrel hunting, the works.

Zuzi struggles with on lead reactivity and we’ve been working hard laying the foundation to solving that and this day was her big test.

She passed with flying colors, ignoring a whole other yard of 12 dogs for daycare, tiny Jagger coming through the fence to investigate, and when bringing Porter out, zero problems.

So proud of Mariah for sticking through this!
