As I was going down memory lane, I realized I hadn't visited one of my favorite Homesteading/Nigerian Dwarf Goat websites in quite awhile. They have since retired from goats, but still have their wonderful, informative website. (This is where we purchased several of our foundational goats in our herd and I'm so glad that we did, because we have some really nice genetics!!!)

We are getting ready for the arrival of baby goats this weekend!!! We have (3) senior does due, and (1) first-freshener ....so stay tuned for baby pics!!! Planning to find homes for all the babies, plus some of the does (in milk), will also be available (when babies are either old enough to wean, or I may include them w/doe...still deciding.)

For the past several months, I've been dealing with chronic health issues, and our family has put a lot of prayer & thought into this difficult decision....

We also have a Simple Pulse milking machine available. It is in like-new condition, (we purchased it brand new, in June of 2023, and only used 20-25 times.) Works perfectly, and is great, but we won't need it, now that we are seriously downsizing our herd.

What is THAT!?
THAT, my friends, is a new herbal wormer mix that I'm experimenting with. I'm using (and have used for years), Fir Meadow LLC "DWA" & "GI Soother" (blends for parasite control).
Normally, I've mixed the herbs into their "Chaffhaye" from Pivotal Feeds ....but I'm trying this new recipe to make individual servings (balls) that include: the two herb blends, some food-grade essential oils, diatomaceous earth, molasses & rolled in vanilla wafer crumbs.

Goat housing does not have to be fancy. If you only have pet goats, a three-sided shelter works well in most parts of the U.S. Although our does come into the barn every day for milking in the evening and morning, our bucks live in a three-sided shelter, and we are in Illinois. We only bring them into the barn if we are expecting a blizzard or temperatures below zero. The open side of a three-sided shelter should be open to the direction opposite the prevailing winds in winter. In Illinois, that means the shelters are open to the south because most winter winds are blowing from the north.

My daughter & I are trying to find homes for these sweet kittens. (They were orphaned at 3 weeks & she bottle-raised them....so we learned LOTS about cats, kittens, their behavior, diet, health, etc). They on solid food, are litter box trained & are now approx. 11 weeks old. Free to a good home. They are super friendly. Please message me if you are interested.

Our kidding season begins in about two weeks...we have four does (all first fresheners), due between March 13th-March 30th.

All bucklings not purchased before 8 weeks of age will be wethered this year. I will have plenty of wonderful wethers available for pet homes...(I will only let them go as pairs (2 doelings, 2 wethers, or one of each). All babies go disbudded. They also come with hooves trimmed, and a zip lock bag of the food they are used to eating. Unfortunately, they will NOT come with ADGA registration forms....because I am still waiting on ADGA to register their parents.
