First Calm Walk!
Bart (on the left) has a history of dog reactivity (pulling, lunging, unsafe to walk with other dogs around). Today he crushed his lesson and walked calm and confident with another dog behind him! For those who know, a dog who is insecure, will not let another dog follow behind, as it leaves them vulnerable. For an insecure reactive dog to trust his owner and another dog is HUGE! Great work.
Maddie showing off her focused heel in a very challenging environment!! Couldn’t be more proud! She is a little over a year now and is excelling in her training❤️
Papion puppy❤️
Would you believe that this was Junior’s 1st LESSON. At 6 months old he surprised his mom and not only walked on his collar without pulling he also offered sits and downs on his own! What a good boy❤️❤️
Rescue dog Tilly coming out of her shell!
Tilly is a recuse pitty who is normally very frantic and easily shut down going on walks. At this lesson we brought out my coworker Earl (border collie) to help show her how walks can be fun! And let’s just say it worked😂 Tilly gained so much confidence and made a new friend😊
Harper’s 1st walk without pulling!!!
Harper is a very sweet lab but can be very insecure and nervous outside on walks. This was her first walk without trying to hide or run away!
Miss Maddie! 7 month old lab puppy working on no pulling and showing off some BEAUTIFUL work. Also she demonstrated the power of “waiting it out” verses repeating commands and losing the value of the word. Great job!
Talk about a HARD environment! Screaming kids at the park, dog barking 10 feet from us and a toddler running by!!! I would say Lulu successfully conquered the park with literally all her triggers jumping up at her.❤️
Well easy to say Lulu became a Border gator😂😂 she is an 8 month old Border Collie mix sent to me for SEVER reactivity with kids, dogs and cars. She was unable to be walked on the sidewalk and could not be walked around any of her triggers without chewing through the leash of biting the handlers. She has come a long way and is throughly enjoying puppy life. Her parents have worked very hard in her training and are now able to walk her past her triggers calmly!!
How to train distracted RECALLS! Featuring 16 week old Kona❤️❤️
Walk Warm Up
A clip from Maddie’s lesson on not rushing through doors. This changed how the rest of her walk went because from the start of the walk she was not allowed to pull ahead. Practice this the next time you go for a walk and see the difference. Note: yes this will cut into their walk time but will tired them out ✨mentally✨
Reactive Dog Training
This is towards the end of a first lesson with Harley. We warmed up inside her house and outside first. She started the lesson by reacting to the barking dog in the background and was unable to refocus. When ended with a drill I like to use to help dogs get out of the excited/anxious state of stress. This what the FIRST time she has ever been able to listen to barking and not bark back!!! Try this on your next walk to de-escalate your dog and to reinforce ignoring the trigger.
A clip from a lesson with 5 month old lab Maddy. Here I explain how to shape behaviors and work on teaching leave it.😊
