It’s been awhile. We’ve taken some time away from social media to get back to doing what we love best. In July we relocated up to Tijeras, where we have access to some of the most beautiful riding trails in the Albuquerque area. We’re so excited to be offering lessons and small/private trail rides in the Cibola National Forest. The weather up here is perfect for riding, so if you’re itching to hang out with some really sweet horses and get out into mountains, please let me know! I can’t wait to show you what we’ve been up to and where we’re riding these days.

I can’t believe 2023 is just a blink away. This year has flown by even faster than the last, and in a similar fashion to 2021, 2022 brought along several changes and unexpected obstacles, but also a great amount of learning and gratitude. In 2022, because of the massive Hermit’s Peak fire that t...

Sales don't happen very often here at Red Horse. Not because I don't love a good sale, but because I do my best to ensure my prices reflect the kind of experience and services we provide, experiences that are not only tailored to your individual wants and skill sets, but that also leave you with a better understanding and appreciation of horses and their relevance in our ever-so-busy lives. An endless amount of hard work, time, and money goes into the love and care of our horses, making sure that each one of them has what they need both physically and mentally to be a happy and capable member of the team. And everyday I am thankful that despite all the challenges and changes, I am able to provide a service that makes other people happy, makes me happy, and makes my horses happy. Thank you for all of your support and loyalty over the years. I am beyond grateful for each of you. Between now and December 3rd, we're offering a 10% discount on all Lesson Packages. Please fill out our email inquiry on our website and mention the Holiday Sale for your discount. Packages can be bought as gifts for others or for yourself, and scheduled any time within a year of purchasing. Happy Holidays!

Always grateful. For memories. For my family. For lessons learned. For the goodness I’ve known and the love I’ve been given. For all the people who support us. For the present and for the past. For my husband, for our sweet son. For our horses. For this life that we live.

We did it. Our last Wilderness Ride of the season and our first ride without my dad. I’m sure most of you know we lost my dad Chance recently. He was everything behind Red Horse. He taught me and my sisters from the time we were babies about horses and wild country. Although he wasn’t physically on this last ride with us, I know he was there every step of the way. The weather was calm, the horses were amazing, and everything fell together pretty seamlessly. I am so grateful to my sisters and for sticking around to complete this ride with me. I couldn’t have done it without them. We had a wonderful crew working with us. And we had the most amazing set of riders willing to join us on this last adventure of the year. Thank you to all of you.
We’ll spend the winter giving lessons and gearing up for more wilderness rides next season. Let us know if you want to join us.

“There is no scatheless rapture, love and time put me in this condition. I am leaving now for the Nightland, where all ghosts of men and animals yearn to travel. We’re called to it. I feel it pulling at me, same as everyone else. It is the last unmapped country, and a dark way getting there. A sorrowful path. And maybe not exactly Paradise at the end. The belief I’ve acquired over a generous and nevertheless inadequate time on earth is that we arrive in the afterlife as broken as when we departed from the world. But, on the other hand, I’ve always enjoyed a journey.” -Thirteen Moons- On August 16th my dad left this earth in the high desert of New Mexico in a small rural clinic surrounded by sagebrush and wild crows. I wasn’t with him when he died, to hold his hand, tell him I loved him, and how lucky I was to have him as my dad. The gift to be with a love one while they pass, is something so few of us are given. But, I am told by the paramedics who cared for him that his death was quick and relatively painless, and for that I am grateful. He always said that when he died, it would be from a horse, and that is exactly how it happened. Knowing he went how he wanted, even though none of us were ready to see him go, is a gift in itself. He got kicked by a horse in his femur and died within 30 minutes of the blow. He must not have been thinking, wasn’t paying attention, and put himself in the wrong place for the wrong split second in time. Something he warned us all never to do. As much as I would like everything to pause or rewind, I know we must go forward. And I can hear my dad telling me that exact thing right now. Whenever we were working a horse together and I felt stuck, he would remind me that a horse moves forward, when you get them moving, they will figure it out. And that is what he would tell me, to move forward, and in the simple act of going forward, I will figure things out. So that is what we plan to do. We will continue with lessons, and rides, and wilderness rides. We will move forward with the business that we started with my dads memory, guidance, and love for horses and wild country in our hearts.
