C.A.R.A. (Citizens for Animal Rescue and Adoption) C.A.R.A. is a 501(c)3 non-for-profit, No Kill animal shelter and rescue for homeless, injured/neglected or surrendered animals. On rare occasion a large dog.

Through community donations we are able to provide high quality care and rehabilitation. CARA 609 E 5th St Tilton, IL 61833 is a 501(c)3 non-for-profit, No Kill animal shelter and rescue for homeless, injured/neglect. Please call 217-655-4353 or 217-799-8858 for an appointment to visit the animals. We are open to the public M-F 1-4pm and Saturdays and other times by appointment. Please call ahead

if making a drive to be sure it isn't a spay/neuter day or that we aren't out of the shelter on an errand. We have lots of kittens up to senior cats so please let us know what you are looking for and we will have several ready for you to meet. Occasionally we have a few puppies or small dogs. We are only set up to keep a few, so check back often. Please note, we are an independent shelter and not an open intake shelter. We keep our pets for as long as they live or until they find homes, which keeps our shelter full. We will only be able to take in when we have adequate room for more. Drake is such a beautiful boy that is craving attention, and he will follow you around, chatting, to make sure you notice him. He is looking for someone who will want lots of love back, and someone who needs a lap warmer. His absolute favorite thing in the world is to sit on your lap, as long as you let him, hours even. And that is when he is quiet as a mouse. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and 3 years old. He is in a room with males and females and is very accepting of both. Please help our boy Drake to find his forever home.

This adorable calico baby with the white socks is Princess! She's 7 months old, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. She likes to be petted, loves the cat tree, loves cat friends in her free roaming room, and has beautiful markings. She is reserved when she first joins a new room with new friends, but once she gets comfortable she is center of the room soaking up all the attention. She is sibling to Socks, Tipper, and Petey.

This sweet guy is Forrest. Forrest was a very friendly baby, but as his months go by, he has gotten more reserved. His siblings were all adopted from his room, also some of his friends, and now it is just him and a friend Rocky who never found a home. You'll often find him in a hidey hole in his cat tree, but if you go in his free roaming room during the calm of the day, he's very affectionate and friendly, loves to be petted, and occasionally likes to play. He will be an amazing companion and friend if you are willing to win his trust. He will roll over belly up and loves to have his tummy rubbed. He gets along with other cats in his free roaming room, he is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. He is black with tiny white hairs throughout as you will see in photos. He's around 20 months old and has been with us all his life.

Rocky! This beautiful and large guy is close to 20 months old and has been waiting his entire kitten life to be noticed. Rocky is in a free roaming room and gets along with the other cats, likes toys, and loves the top of the cat tree. He's very friendly and social, laid back, playful at times, likes to lounge, and occasionally likes to be held or sit on your lap. He's neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. Rocky is ready to be your new best friend.

Two adorable furbabies! Yes, Baby is that petite, and yes, Bart is that large. They came in together and remain friends. Baby also came in with Big Gray and her baby, Little Gray. Baby was so shy when she came in. She had been a mom too soon as she is just over a year old and has already had a baby and it's as big as she is. But she is no longer shy and once she found out she was safe, she has become an absolute sweetheart and loves attention.

Zephyr is a beautiful and sweet girl who's looking for a loving home. She gets along with other cats. She is quiet, loves people, loves attention, and is currently roommates with her sister Ziggy. They were both adopted as kittens and came back last month due to their owner having a serious illness and no longer able to care for them. Zephyr is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. She is 14 months old.

This adorable yellow/orange baby with the swirls, is Turkey! He is super cuddly and full of love. He's also playful and fun. He has been with us since a tiny baby, fostered and socialized, and now he's taking applications! He will be neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations, he is currently 3-1/2 months old and will be ready to go home in just a few weeks!

(It's also great if they have a buddy, especially if they are alone for several hours a day in the kitten months, please consider a friend to adopt with Turkey. He's been raised with Bear and Bengal!)
