Happy Sunday Friends. We're here until 4. And more importantly happy October 1st! It's Howl-O-Ween! Time to get spooky! We're so excited to officially announce our Howl-O-Ween party at The Barketplace! Join us for a spooky good time. We'll have things to do for the whole family. Both humans and pets can trick or treat, crafts for kids, a costume contest for dogs, our Tricks for Treats contest, and more! Follow our event page for more details and updates to come!

Costume Contest: To enter our costume contest bring your pup into the store in costume. We'll take your official costume contest photo submission. Judging will occur on Facebook based on likes.

Tricks for Treats contest: This contest will begin at 3pm! Bring your smarty pants pup in to show off their tricks.

Hey friends. We have to lock up just for a bit. We received a call that someone needs help with a stray dog. I'll post as soon as we're opened back up. Thank you for your patience.

**edit: We're open and ready to go. This young lady was found today near Blue Island. She appears to be a little mature based on her teeth. We had her scanned, but she doesn't have a chip. She's petite, but also very skinny. She's pretty dirty too, implying she's been out for a while. We'll be in touch with rescues, but if anyone knows her or sees any missing huskies please send them our way. She's hanging out with me at the shop while I come up with a plan for this sweet girl.

I've seen a few of my friends share this in the last couple of days. Truer words have never been spoken. If you're out and about support some of your favorite small businesses. That burnout is real. We appreciate every one of you.

I've seen this shared by my friends at Pekoe & Bean, Popus Gourmet Popcorn TP, and The Scoop I see you all working so hard and am so proud to be in business alongside all of you amazing women.

The unfortunate truth of owning and running a business.

Running a business is really hard.

What they don’t tell you is that it can cause severe stress and anxiety, and drains you mentally to the point of depression in even the most laid back people.

People will talk about you, compare you to others, use you, they will view you as a service and not a person anymore.

Friends and family will expect discounts and people will value you and your hard work less than a big chain store.

You have to worry about if you forget to email/message someone back, are they going to think it was on purpose? Did you disappoint them? Will they hold that against you? When in reality you just can’t get to everyone’s messages and emails.

Starting up and running a successful business puts incredible strain on personal lives and relationships, many of which fail because there is just often no work life balance. You need to be the director, the worker, the admin, the marketing team, the accountant, the cleaner..... All whilst being a parent, a husband or a wife, family support, friend... it’s one of the hardest things you will try and balance

There’s a reason you don’t see many people succeed in small businesses after 5 years. If they are successful they are overwhelmed. It takes a toll. It’s freaking exhausting. Especially the past couple of years when so much has been out of our control.

Here’s a small reminder that we are just normal people with hectic lives. Be kind, be patient, support small businesses…….and hopefully more of us will stick around!

Happy Thursday! We’re here until 7. What a bittersweet day! We said “See you later!” to our pals Kiwi and Coconut, but we’re excited to welcome our new foster boy, Appa! Appa is a very affectionate and sweet boy. He loves attention, being held, and if very playful. He’s about 11 weeks old. Come meet our new pal and see if he’s your new family member. He’s ready to go home.

Don’t forget it’s training night with Hello Fido Dog Training from 6pm-7pm. Make sure you go to their page and check out their new foster puppies. You won’t regret it!
